Courtyard Palm Desert vs Residence Inn Palm Desert

Has anyone stayed at one or both of these properties and can attest to which one is better or just their experience in general? I have reservations for both for Head Trip (basically same rate for both) and trying to decide which one to keep. It's just me and my girlfriend - we don't care about free breakfast or the pool, really only care about 1) cleanliness and 2) everything in the room is working and in good order (AC, sinks, tubs, etc).

I know both of these properties are currently under construction but according to their respective websites the Courtyard will finish by the end of this month whereas Residence Inn is slated to finish by the end of the year.

Does Renaissance let you bring the free Electrolits they hand you outside into the event?

And are they the small 12 oz bottles? Because if they do, I may stop by the store and get some Electrolit and some food dye if you know what I mean.

Last Splash @ Reforma - are flip flops/sandals allowed?

I'm going to guess NO, due to liability issues, but I just wanted to ask if anyone knew for sure?
