Best place in the DMV for my profile
Intend to move to the DMV around mid 2027. I currently reside in the Hampton Roads area of the Virginia. I am a government contractor and my company is headquarters out of Reston so if everything goes well with work I’ll likely be working somewhere likely in NOVA or in DC itself.
I’m 31, single, a father and will want to move my kid here when he gets to high school, he is currently heading into 6th grade.
I make around 150k-160k now and expect to get to around the 200k mark with the move, hopefully more but I think that’ll be the floor.
Things I value in order of importance:
- Access to Transit
- Good school district
- Affordability
I believe I will want to settle in the area as I approach my 40’s and guide my child into adulthood I will want to shift focus into making big career jumps and enjoying a comfortable and enjoyable lifestyle. I’m an artist at heart and talent, so I’ll want to pour into that too.
I am drawn to Baltimore for lifestyle but that seems to far north, and definitely is for logistics reasons.
