[MOVA Tips] Confused about which robot vacuum to choose? Here are 5 things we’d actually consider

If you’ve started shopping for a robot vacuum, you’ve probably noticed there are a lot of specs to compare. Suction power, navigation, mopping, obstacle avoidance, self-emptying… it can get confusing pretty quickly.

Rather than getting caught up in the feature list, here are the 5 things we think are worth paying attention to:

1. Match it to your floors

Think about what your home actually needs. Mostly hard floors? Look for strong mopping and good debris pickup. Lots of carpet? Suction and brush design become more important. Have a mix of both? Look for a robot that can automatically detect different floor types and adjust its cleaning.

Tip: Take a quick look around your home and make a list of your main floor types before you start comparing models.

2. Look at overall cleaning performance, not just suction

A higher suction number doesn’t automatically mean better cleaning. Brush design, airflow, navigation, edge cleaning, and obstacle avoidance all work together to create a more powerful cleaning experience.

For example, if your floors are usually covered with toys, cables, or furniture, good obstacle avoidance could be much more useful than having the highest suction power.

Tip: Think about how your floors look daily, and pick a robot that matches your home’s terrain. For example, if you have children or tend to leave things lying around, obstacle avoidance will be important. If you live in a dusty location, edge cleaning and suction power might be more useful.

3. Make sure it can handle your home

A robot that works perfectly in one home might struggle in another. Think about narrow spaces, furniture, thresholds, and whether you have multiple floors.

Good preparation can ensure the robot you choose can clean efficiently, tackle tricky areas, and handle multiple floor plans.

Tip: Identify the trickiest areas in your home and check the robot’s navigation, threshold height, and multi-floor mapping capabilities before buying. Measure the clearance under your sofas and cabinets to make sure the robot can actually reach those areas.

4. Decide how hands-off you want to be

This is where robot vacuums can really make life easier. Features like scheduling, room/zone cleaning, automatic carpet boost, self-emptying, and anti-tangle brushes can save you from constantly managing the robot.

Tip: Think about the chores you really don’t want to do. Hate emptying the dustbin? Look for self-emptying. Have lots of pet hair around the house? An anti-tangle brush could be worth prioritizing.

5. Don’t forget maintenance & support

Even a smart robot needs some care. Brushes, filters, sensors, and dustbins still need to be cleaned, so you’ll want something easy to maintain.

And while you hopefully never need it, a good warranty and responsive customer support can make a huge difference if something goes wrong.

Tip: Before buying, check how easy it is to clean the main components, how easy replacement parts are to get, how long the warranty is, and what it actually covers.

Our simple rule for first-time buyers:

Don’t buy the robot with the longest feature list. Buy the one with features that actually fit your floors, your home, and your lifestyle.

The best robot vacuum is the one that makes your life more convenient, not just another gadget you have to manage.

What features do you look for when shopping for a new robot vacuum? What did you prioritize when you got your first robot vacuum? Let us know in the comments!

[MOVA Tips] Vacuum smells like it’s burning? Here are some things to check 🔍

Hey everyone! If you’ve ever noticed a burning smell coming from your vacuum, don’t panic. In many cases, it’s caused by something simple that can be fixed with a quick check and some basic maintenance.

Here are the most common reasons your vacuum may smell like it’s overheating:

1. Hair or debris stuck in the brush roller
Hair, pet fur, and fibers can wrap around the brush roller, preventing it from spinning properly. This creates friction and can lead to a burning rubber smell.

☑️ Remove the brush roller and clear away any tangled debris.

2. A clogged hose or blocked airflow
When airflow is restricted, your vacuum motor has to work harder, which can cause it to overheat.

☑️Check the hose, intake, and attachments for blockages.

3. Dirty filters
Filters help keep airflow moving and protect the motor. When they become too clogged, the vacuum may struggle and run hotter than normal.

☑️Clean or replace filters regularly, and make sure washable filters are fully dry before reinstalling.

4. A worn-out belt
A damaged or loose belt can slip while the brush roller spins, creating a burning rubber smell.

☑️Check the belt for cracks, stretching, or damage.

5. The motor is overheating
Using a vacuum with a full dustbin, blocked airflow, or dirty filters can put extra stress on the motor.

☑️Turn off the vacuum, unplug it, let it cool down, and check the basics before using it again.

When should you stop using your vacuum?
If you notice smoke, sparks, a burning plastic/electrical smell, unusual noises, or a hot power cord, stop using it immediately and contact our customer service team. We’ll have it checked.

Regular maintenance can keep your vacuum running smoothly and extend its lifespan. A few minutes of cleaning can make a big difference!

Have you ever had a weird smell come from your vacuum? What was the cause?

[MOVA Tips] Vacuum cleaner stopped working? Here are some things to check before replacing it

A vacuum that suddenly stops working in the middle of the clean can be frustrating, especially when you still have cleaning to do. The good news is that many common vacuum problems have simple solutions.

Before throwing out your vacuum, try checking these common causes and quick fixes:

1. Check if the vacuum has power
Sometimes the issue is as simple as a loose connection, a tripped outlet, or a problem with the power source.

☑️Try a different outlet and make sure the power cord, plug, and connections are secure. Make sure the base station is powered on.

2. Empty the dustbin or replace the bag
A full dustbin or bag can reduce airflow and may cause some vacuums to shut down as a safety measure.

☑️Empty the bin or replace the bag regularly to keep your vacuum working efficiently.

3. Look for blockages
Hair, dust, and debris can build up in the hose, brush roller, or air pathways, affecting performance.

☑️Check the main brush, hose, wand, and attachments for anything blocking airflow.

4. Clean or replace the filters
Dirty filters can restrict airflow, reduce suction, and put extra strain on the motor.

☑️Clean washable filters according to the instructions and replace filters when needed.

5. Check the brush roller
If the brush roller is stuck because of tangled hair or debris, the vacuum may stop to protect itself.

☑️ Remove any buildup and make sure the brush can spin freely.

6. Let the vacuum cool down
Many vacuums have an automatic thermal protection feature that shuts the motor off if it overheats.

☑️Turn it off, unplug it, wait for it to cool down, then check for blockages before restarting.

7. Listen for unusual sounds
Grinding, rattling, or other unusual noises may point to a problem with internal parts.

☑️ If cleaning and basic troubleshooting don’t solve the issue, professional service may be needed.

A few simple maintenance habits can prevent many vacuum problems:

  • Empty the dustbin regularly.
  • Clean filters on schedule.
  • Remove hair from the brush roller.
  • Check for blockages before each use.

Taking a few minutes to maintain your vacuum can help keep it running smoothly for many years to come. If these steps don’t work, feel free to reach out to our customer service team. We’re always ready to help.

Have you ever had a vacuum suddenly stop working? What was the fix?
