So what was the Ashen One even doing in Dark Souls 3?

I just got done watching Qwibbz's ds3 video, and I'm confused about something. So the Unkindled are woken up because the previous lords of cinder aren't relinking the flame, and they were woken up because Lothric didn't link the flame, that much I get. But he said that when we gather the ashes of the lords we get transported into the same future as the Dreg Heap/Ringed City, which doesn't make sense to me. The unkindled were woken up because in that moment the first flame was fading, so why, when we complete our goal and gather the ashes of the lords of cinder, do we get sent FAR into the future when the flame is fading again after god knows how many other cycles? Or am I misunderstanding something? Thanks!

What in the lore are the chalices? How do they seal away the Pthumerian labyrinth?

I've looked this up online and have seen nothing, and unless I'm severely misreading the item descriptions I don't think they help at all. What are the chalices physically doing? How are they sealing away the dungeons and why does doing rituals with them unlock them? Were they made by Byrgenwerth or the Pthumerians. The isz chalice says that people were getting them from the labyrinth, so I guess they weren't originally sealing them away?

I'm doing a huge deep dive into the lore to try and figure out the stuff that my knowledge is missing, and I'm finding some confusing stuff. Or rather, I'm finding some stuff that I am not really seeing any source for.

I'm seeing people say that the reason that the Moon Presence is in Yharnam is because of the Mensis ritual, and that the cries of Mergo attracted the Moon Presence? But also it had to have been beckoned before to make the Hunters Dream, and I'm hearing that the Blood Moon (which makes beasthood worse?) came before and that's why Old Yharnam fell to beasthood. So was that when they summoned the moon presence to create the hunters dream, which in turn brought about the Blood Moon which made Old Yharnam fall, and then the Moon Presence stayed away for a bit until the Mensis Ritual brought it back as it followed Mergo's Cry, and that's why everyone during the game talks about how "this night is different" and how this is the end of Yharnam?

Is the answer just that we really don't know and any interpretation works? In which case I guess I like this interpretation lol. Thanks

So this might just come from me misunderstanding the lore, but I feel like in the first cutscene of the game, Paleblood shouldn't even be something we know about. But the blood Minister says "Oh yes, paleblood.." like we asked about it. But in my interpretation of things, the first time we should ever hear about Paleblood is the note we see right after: "Seek Paleblood to transcend the hunt"

Heres why I think that. In my mind, that note means to go into the hunters dream and get a mission from the moon presence in order to transcend the "hunt," meaning the loop of death (this would be the ending where you let Gherman kill you). This seems supported by both Djura and Eileen referencing the hunters dream, implying all hunters did this ritual of doing something for the moon presence and getting out of being trapped in the dream. I also understand the "transcend" in this case might be what happens to us in the true ending, but my interpretation I feel fits better narratively, giving us our objective from the start—since our goal is (unknowingly) to kill Mergo for the Moon Presence, at which point we can escape the hunters dream. But thats why I'm confused, because in that interpretation we should have never heard about paleblood before reading that note, which is left for us after the first cutscene.

I guess the only other explanation is that its a note we brought with us and the reason we came to Yharnam in the first place that we.. I guess left on that table instead of in our pocket. But that confuses me with the whole "transcend the hunt" thing because we're an outsider, we have no real connection to the hunt before we get roped into the dream. So I see the note as a "yeah you're stuck in this endless hunt now, look for the Moon Presence to get out of it."

Sorry if this is a dumb question!! Thank you!
