Eye trouble after shooting session?

I’ll lay out the specific details below, but the tldr is that my eyes have trouble focusing properly after a shooting session.

I’ve been dealing with this issue for a while and it has taken a while for me to really pay attention and feel like I have a good idea of what’s happening, just not why or what to do about it.

When I go rifle shooting, after about 5-10 minutes I start noticing that it is harder to see my reticle and the target clearly. I was shooting a .22 with irons today and that really spotlighted the problems when I couldn’t get the front sight in focus after a bit.

After I was done shooting, I noticed that my eyes felt very strained and seemed to take a long time to adjust to different distances. It almost felt like I was having to manually focus for lack of a better way to describe it. This lasted for about 20-30 min before they returned to normal. I obviously close my left eye only but felt this strain in both eyes.

About me: I am right eye dominant but also have mild astigmatism in that eye. BC 8.70; Sph -0.50; BC -1.75; Axis 050; Diam 14.5 is my prescription and I wear a contact in that eye. No correction in my left eye. I do not currently have or use regular glasses

Any thoughts about what might be going on and what I can do about it? I’ve talked to my optometrist about it but he doesn’t shoot and I think doesn’t really understand the problem.

Anyone have a similar experience and able to help me out or help me with what to say to the eye doctor to better describe my problem and get to a solution?

Value Adjustment Board Special Magistrate

I was talking to a friend that works in the clerk of courts in my county and they mentioned that they are going to be opening applications for appraisers to serve as special magistrates the the Value Adjustment Board soon. He told me a bit about the process but I am not totally sure what the process and expectations look like.

I feel that I am a competent appraiser and have a very strong understanding of my county, but I have never done a review appraisal before. Some research online indicates that I would not be performing a Standards 3 and 4 compiant review but following the Florida Statutes governing ad valorem taxes (jurisdictional exception?).

Has anyone here served in one of these positions before and if so, would you be willing to describe it to me? Getting to see a lot of other appraisals seems like a great way for me to grow myself outside of my current work.

Gluten free AND dairy free desert/treats?

Anyone have suggestions for some gluten and dairy free treats? I help with a youth retreat every year and I like to make them a treat one night when we are hanging out. Not necessarily fancy but something that really tickles the taste buds. Biggest hit in the past has been chocolate chip cookies with ice cream.

We now have two members that are gluten and dairy free and I am drawing a blank on ideas. I don’t like to do gluten free versions of things as that generally just disappointing but looking for ideas that naturally meet the dietary requirements.

Thanks for any ideas and help!

Anyone build high fence recently and willing to share costs?

Like the title says, I am wondering if anyone here has recently installed/replaced high fence and would be willing to share their costs how much they did with me. I work doing real estate appraisals and currently working on a timber tract with perimeter high fence. Not many good comps so relying on cost data and wanted to validate my numbers.

Thanks for the help!

Can anyone help me with classifying Flood Zone?

I am looking for a source on classifying flood hazard, in particular its affect on the improvements.

I appraised a property that has a significant portion in the flood zone and the residence is built in the flood zone. In the cost approach I applied obsolescence to the buildings that are in the flood zone and referred to it as External Obsolescence. The reviewer did not dispute the adjustmetn that I applied, but did not agree with calling it External because it is not something from outside the property (used the example of a dump, power plant, paper mill, etc.). My argument is that it is incurable so it has to be external. Also, the potential flood waters would originate outside of the property.

I dont have a good source for this other than just debating the definition of external obsolescence. Anyone have a place where a textbook or something similar discusses flood zone in relation to the improvements? In this case I changed my comment and said that it is applied in the external obsolescence cell due to constraints of the form and moved on. I dont feel strongly about this but would like to learn what is right.
