Pool equipment pad against foundation walls

A landscaping company is installing our pool equipment pad right against our house. I have a few questions about wtf is happening here, most imporantly: should a layer of sealant be added to the foundation wall before raising the grade with all that gravel and (yet to be poured) concrete? Im concerned about trapping moisture against the foundation walls.
