AITAH for calling my sister fat?
I(16), have a younger sister who we'll call Em. Em is 13 and has a variety of mental health conditions such as Oppositional defiant disorder and the likes. For the past year she's been constantly fat shaming me and commenting on what I eat. It doesn't matter what I eat, if I'm having a salad, she'll criticize the dressing or choice of croutons. Snide comments such as "That's not the healthiest choice you could make..." or if I'm eating something sweet sometimes I get hit with wonderful zingers such as "You're such a fatty. I could never eat all that. So unhealthy." And our parents never do anything about it. They're content to blame it all on her disorders and tell me to give her more grace.
But anyways here's where I might be TAH. Earlier today I was just sitting there in the kitchen, minding my own business, eating my food. Then she came in and started with her usual spiel. I don't know why it got under my skin more than usual today. I don’t remember exactly what she said. But something inside me just kinda snapped I told her that "she eats more than me(she does), so what does that make her?" Anyways then she completely flipped out. She started screaming and me and saying i hate her and that I wouldn’t care if she died and then she went to our parents to tell on me. Anyways now my parents are demanding that I apologize. I refused because honestly I don't think I should.
Here's why I think I might be the asshole. I can see that i probably overreacted in our arguement and honestly being mean to a 13 year old who is insecure probably wasn't the best. But I honestly don't think I should have to apologize given she's been constantly bullying me about it.
