Took the trusty Merlin out for a ride down 23C. Started at Colgate and finished in Westkill. Weather was perfect and the colors are great.

Last night was beautiful.

My uncle gifted me this bike a few weeks ago. It rides so good. What upgrades should be my priority?

Two weeks ago I was at my local transfer station and saw an old Brompton sitting by the scrap metal container. I asked them if I could take it and they said sure. A free M3R with a B67 saddle! Yesterday I was visiting my uncle who is a life long cyclist and told him about my free Brompton. He proceeded to say he had an old MTB in his basement and I could have it if I wanted. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this Merlin titanium leaning against the wall. It needs some new parts but it rides like a dream.

I was at my local transfer station today and I saw this sitting by the scrap metal container. I asked if I could have it and they said sure!! I don’t know much about Brompton’s so I’m looking for model name and important maintenance information. I can’t wait to clean her up!

I find it interesting that working for VR is similar to being in the military. This will be 4 different states in 10 years for him and his family. It’s a loss for Hunter because he was quite popular and by all accounts doing a great job. Maybe VR is preparing for some trimming of their icecoast portfolio???

I’ve been searching this the same way for weeks and today it changed.

I took a Montgomery Ward open road and hacked it up into my new rear rack. Lots more to do on this bike but I wanted to show off my rack.

I put a 14/2 copper wire through the pocket for the powder cuff elastic band. Then I cut a circle of 1/2” foam and placed it in the bottom. ZIP tape for the win.
