House or apartment?
We are considering buying a property in Antwerp.
Ideally, we would like to buy a house, but based on our current savings, we feel that buying a house in our preferred areas may be difficult.
At the moment, we are renting an apartment. There are many residents in the building, and we have annoying neighbors. We don’t find the environment very comfortable. It’s a shame because we actually like the apartment itself.
One of the reasons we would like to buy a property is that we are thinking about having a baby. We are not pregnant yet, but we would like to create a comfortable and peaceful living environment in advance, because buying a property after becoming pregnant could be quite hectic.
We would prefer to buy a house, but with our current savings of around €30,000, it seems that our options would be limited to houses that are in poor condition or located in areas that are not considered very safe.
So, when thinking about raising a baby, which would you recommend: buying a house in a less safe area, or buying an apartment in a relatively safe and desirable area?
