if these are the same thing, why is the price so different?

I'm a new drama teacher and we need power conditioners bc the teacher before me plugged lights right into the wall. I'd like to be able to put these into a rack but the price seems steep for a public school. The music teacher recommended the 60$ option instead. I think he kinda knows what he's talking about, but the big price difference is scaring me. Any recommendations/alternatives welcome. TIA <3

EDIT: okay, not the same thing!! Gotcha. We'll go with the surge protectors since I highly doubt our lights are top of the line, but I'll double check. Thank you to those of you who explained more info to me. I am still learning! Much love!!!!!

Unemployed :(

A little vent-y, apologies.

I *was* a first year teacher last year and couldn't handle staying at my job despite them pretty much offering it to me (I was technically laid off by the district, but they were prepped to just hire me again). My mental and physical health was terrible due to this job so I just didn't reapply. I am in an okay financial spot where I could do that knowing that if I had to sub again, I would be okay.

I was trying to move up to high school, but the ELA market was very competitive and I think being a first year set me back. I didn't even get an interview.

Here's my plan for next year: get my masters degree and substitute teach at the high schools. Make relationships with the teachers/admin there, maybe even pick up a long-term sub job if I can (or even a last minute retirement position). If nothing else, apply again next year.

Is there something else I can do to better my chances between now and next year of getting hired as an ELA high school teacher?
