I knew she looked a lot lighter than usual, being night! Thought it was another egg white wolf but its my first ever albino of anything! I know I was aimed at those lungs tho! Anyways, got this big female albino and I think a level 3 female egg white, just need that G1 male to make that multi mount!
So just hit 500 hrs played, by level 50ish I had already set my mind on a Red Deer G1 and wanted to try HM on Te Awaroa. Was a bit of trial and error but by 2k red deer kills I had it where I was spawning 8s and 9s every in game day. About 3500 kills in, finally spawned my G1. Never got a super rare, though I did get about 2 of each rare fur type in Gold scoring buck. Also after taking a break from that map a while after getting the G1, I went back recently and ran a few loops and spawned a 2nd G1 in about 100 kills but its a tiny G1 lol
After the 1st G1, I didnt wanna HM or grind for a while, went to Medved, hunted everything. Started messing with feeders and wolves, got hooked and went to Yukon for a full wolf, feeder setup because the lynx on medved scaring everything off was frustrating and all the boars.. Now I'm sure I'm about 1200-1500 wolves killed, no G1, and the only rare I've gotten was a WHILE ago and is a beautiful egg white female.
Is it normal to have this bad of luck for so long? 😅
What are yalls thoughts on the Game Feeders? I started messing with the tube feeders on Medved for wolves I liked them but kept getting unwanted boars at them and lynx are broken so they scare everything away! Even the big brown bears flee from the tiny lynx in full terror! 😂
Well I saw Yukon is better for wolves anyways and no broken lynx so setup here and got my feeders placed nicely. I start my rotations at about 1845 and typically get 2 or 3 rotations in pretty quick, constantly taking 1-3 males from almost every stop, every rotation. I tend to just sleep to 1830 again at that point and give them the other half the night to respawn, reset, whatnot.
I'm thinking about buying the map for jags and trying this strategy with them! Its so effective!
When I started, I only had desire for deer/moose so I got a bloodhound and kept him for a while, started to dabble with waterfowl so I got a retriever for that. Pointing failed me hard everytime I messed with it. I saw pointer with tracking is good and with this community challenge, I felt I needed to level up a pointer so spent a few hours devoted to a fresh shorthair by flushing ducks over and over..
Now I have it almost maxed tracking and this dog tracks so much faster than bloodhound, its bond feels like it drops way slower, its so agile and snappy! I feel the bloodhound needs a buff because it seems obsolete 😅

So I recently started hunting Medved Taiga and the animals act so different, it almost feels like a bug.. I'll be walking (sometimes even crouch walking), cover scent on, wind in my face, and when I come across animals 300m+ in front of me, they're status is anything BUT calm. I have all the quiet/stealth skills, no backpack on, snow ghillie suit on (which i believe i saw that what you wear doesnt matter at all besides backpacks?). Also, I regularly get warning calls at me from 250m+ away from up-wind animals while I'm in hunting stands. Is this normal for this map, do I have a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
I came from Te Awaroa and NEVER had issues like this.
First Great One for me! Right at about 3500 red deer slain before his debut! Was getting frustrated but every time I went to hunt other stuff, I kept getting drawn back "maybe the next day.. maybe the next day.." LOL 67 diamonds (highest 269.12) and 33 trolls.
I'm torn between Yukon or Medved next for moose, wolves, bears, and kind of wanting Capercallies too. Definitely not going full herd management again for a while lol
Just curious to see about how many do Herd Management, stalk hunt to hot spots, aimlessly travel around, or any other cool, interesting, odd ways of hunting the community typically does!
I'm newish, no Great Ones yet unfortunately. Took on Herd Management fairly early for red deer on Te awaroa, currently ~3k kills, 46 dimes, and 25 trolls on this grind.. Herd management is nice but I feel once you reach about 2k kills, it starts getting a bit monotonous tbh. Thinking about trying a more mobile HM on Medved for moose maybe next if I ever get this red deer G1 to make a debut 😂
Red Deer grinding for my first Great One on Te Awaroa, about 2500 kills in, 34 diamonds and 20 trolls. Never seen an albino ANYTHING in this game yet! Got gold scoring Melenistic and all the other fur types, now this Leucistic to add to the collection! Hopefully the GO will show up soon...
I'm pretty new, reached level 60 over a week ago. Ive been red deer grinding for a bit now on Te Awaroa and I believe I have 1000-1300 red deer kills total, but ive kept track of legendaries I've harvested, 19 dimes and 10 trolls.
I was stacking 8s and 9s and was killing big 5s to 7s but am now fine tuning and turning more 5s to 3s and 4s.
Is this normal? This has been a lot of trial and error learning the herd management but I think I have a full grasp of it now, maybe that slowed me down some..
On Te Awaroa, I've been farming Red Deer, finally got my herd management about fully fine tuned i think.. New to the game, hit 60 last week, first heard management.
Well, I wanted a break from the typical jump around grind and also wanted to let my zones cool down all the way and give extra time for respawns, decided to explore areas ive never been on that map and maybe bag animals a little different. Went to the double lakes far east, saw it was a good fallow deer spot and their drink time was right after red deer so lined up nicely. The second pack I saw had this beauty! I didnt know white was a color for them and started freaking out thinking it was an albino legendary LOL! Still SUPER stoked it it a gorgeous diamond! Just shows what a little extra exploring can find! Also, before this, I had only killed maybe 3 fallow deer my whole time on this map.
The only time I wished a Legendary was an actual Troll. Its estimated trophy score topped out at 254, turned out 252.4.. I figured for sure it would have turned out gold... I reckon it deserved getting mounted for the laughs! Hopefully that Great One comes soon!
I'm on Te Awaroa and pretty new but messing with HM. I saw a video that was talking about these small lakes how you can put a tent close enough to a drink zone and when the red deer are there amd you fast travel to it, that they wouldn't render in for that spot so you can shoot across the lake and when you fast travel to the other across the lake, then the first herd would render back in? Was that fixed or am I doing something wrong? Because when I fast travel in, I have to stay in the tent a few sec so I dont get ran over 😅
Noob here playing with herd management for the first time, 4 mythics and a 7 which is the one with the gorgeous rack hiding behind the bunch, the one to the far right says estimated trophy is up to 267! Got another mythical in the herd next door and a legendary across the map im waiting for lol
Just hit 60 a couple days ago, been messing with herd management, I think its starting to pay off! Been trying to work these 2 spots as my main hunting zones and spawned 3 Mythicals at the same time! Been spawning tons of Mythicals and a Legendary here and there! If only they were Musk deer, I'd have to call them the 3 Musk-i-Deers..... heh
I've got a couple piebald doe and mission rares but finally bagged a Gold rare and hes gorgeous!! Scored 849.7! Too bad not a diamond but I'm pretty new, level 39 currently. Edit: After this croc, I slept and ran my red deer spots and got a small piebald buck and small erythistic buck almost back to back!
I've seen posts from several years ago talking about it, was wanting to check what the current status is because lately I've had several shot that not only should have easily dropped them but at LEAST showed blood.
I have the zero perk and I tend to get withing 10m of one of the 3 setting. Just had an event on Te Awaro where I was in a shooting house on a lake, a level 4 and 3 fallow bucks both 80-90m away. Lined up first shot, instantly went to the 2nd after firing and got a gorgeous broadside shot on him, got up their, no blood for either.. using the Zara .308
I picked the game up 2 or 3 weeks ago on Steam sale, got hooked so I did some research and learned about herd management, watched a few videos on it and started messing with implementing it. I'm level 32 now and was on Layton Lake going for whitetail and moose on the side but they coyote missions got me wanting to change the scene for a little bit. On Te Awaroa now and wanting to mess with red deer managing. I found a lake with an outpost RIGHT next to it with a solo level 8 and another drinking spot with what just was a 5 and 6 males and 3 or 4 doe.
Should I leave that solo level 8 until I get the herd management fully going?
Is there anything you can do about AI leaders that constantly bombard you with sanctions? It literally makes me want to completely wipe them out and I feel that is going to be my only option.
Current game i'm Machiavelli, Napoleon is my closest neighbor. He started his shenanigans early and was irritating me, I declared war, took 2/3 (including his capital) of his settlements, peace. He sent a reconciliation, cool.. BAM! instant sanctions next turn!.. had a full repeat of that several turns later.. got 2 more settlements including his new capital.
Should I just finish em off to relieve the hemeroid?
Fresh water? 100% Must have! But when it comes to basic tile yields, what do yall look for, how many yields, and which yields that makes your decision on settling you first settlement or even settling other settlements and future cities? Or do yall even care as long as fresh water?
