Clicking In and Out (Manitoba)

Hi all,

An employer has recently switched to using a phone app for clocking in and out for shifts and lunch breaks. Many employees are often forgetting one or the other, and the employer has now asserted that any shifts not clocked in for will not be paid. Is this legal?

They are also not paying for time outside of the scheduled shift, ie. the nature of our job sometimes requires we stay a half hour to an hour later, but because it isn't part of the scheduled shift, it's being removed from pay calculations. I'm 90% sure this part is not legal.
