Tried rubbing alcohol. Didn’t do anything.
Does not appear to be dust.
Curious if it is rust?
This is the side opposite the stock fan.
In the middle of deciding how to mod this one still. Can this be cleaned?

Update : metal piece under the power supply(?) stamped with h1-1 has rust spot about the size and thickness of a dime.

Another user mentioned using a dremel to remove rust and also using Rustoleum to stop the spread.

Does this still apply? Will fine steel wool remove enough of this to stop the spread?

Any advice very appreciated.

Hello all.
I am completely new to messing with electronics and whatnot. I’ve had some general advice and I’ve also looked up some guides. But I wanted to share some pictures of this 60gb PS3 that was given to me a few years ago. We had tried to power it on and nothing happened. Literally nothing. So in all honesty, if I clean it and cannot get it to work then no harm no foul. But I still wanted to give it a shot since it’s the 60gb.

Posting some pics. Any advice or observations please feel free to comment.

Wanted to start this journey by joining this group and sharing my progress if and when I fail or succeed at something.

I would like to start by sharing some pictures of a GameCube my wife’s family gave me. It is in rough shape and I wanted to use it as a guinea pig for my first adventure into modding.

My first question is whether this is the model GameCube that is sought after for modding?

My second question is if anyone has tips for managing the dismantling of the hardware? I realize documenting by taking pictures is probably advisable. Just curious if anyone has suggestions beyond that!
