Advice Needed

Hi everyone,
I have a situation that I need help with. I recently got into the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, and I am so excited to have received an acceptance, especially given this crazy, competitive cycle. This is my second cycle, by the way, as I was waitlisted last cycle, and I ended up taking the LSAT twice after the initial attempt.

The dilemma is that I reside in Toronto and would like to practice here. I am more than happy to move to Windsor for law school and return to Toronto, but I have this strong feeling that I will get into Osgoode Hall Law School.

I went to Windsor last week, and it was indeed a slow and small city, lol. I viewed a few apartments, and I ended up really liking one of them. I was told I could apply, and the lease can begin on August 1st (which means the building can keep the apartment from May through August without charging me anything). I just need to pay last month's rent ($1300) to secure the commitment, and my first month's rent will kick in on August 1st. I would really love to live somewhere comfortable for law school, especially since I am moving to somewhere I am not familiar with.

As we know, July 1st is when provincial acceptance turns into firm acceptance. Which means I have until July 1st to hear back from Osgoode, but I need to sign this lease for Windsor before the end of this week.

Should I;

  1. Sign the lease and look forward to starting at Windsor, but if I get into Osgoode before July 1st, which means I will lose the $1300 (last month's commitment)
  2. Don't sign the lease, keep faith that I will receive an acceptance from Osgoode, but if I get rejected, or July 1st comes around for firm acceptance, then I might have only a month to find a place in Windsor, which might leave me with limited options since most good places might have been occupied by then.

Should I reach out to Osgoode?
