Moving to Nottingham for GP training. What are the best areas to rent and where should I avoid. My first practice is in long Eaton. Is that an okay area to live? Or should I stay more central? And how is the public transport?

I will be moving to the Uk, Nottingham specifically, in July, as I have a job offer with the NHS as a doctor. I am a British citizen but I haven’t lived in the Uk since high school.
I currently don’t have a Uk bank account, but I do have a job offer.
I wanted to know if it’s possible to rent before arrival as I do have a close friend there who can view the property.
Also, for end of July, when should I start looking for rentals and on what sites.
