Laser hair removal

Would it be a good idea to start a laser hair removal on my genital area considering I have hsv2?

I know it could trigger an outbreak, but in the long run I wouldn't have to shave as often and worry every time that shaving might cause another outbreak. If shaving is one of my triggers, maybe it would mean fewer outbreaks. Plus, I wouldn't have to stress every time I get a new lesion wondering if it's herpes or just razor burn/folliculitis.

Has anyone done it?

Lysine (hsv2)

Does lysine actually help?

I'm not on daily medication (doctors don't prescribe it to me yet). They told me to take lysine, but only because it will make me feel better mentally.

I'm gonna take 1000mg of lysine daily and I just wanna know if it made a change for some of you, if it's actually effective

Arguing with a professional

The other day, I was sharing makeup with a girl who works in healthcare. At one point she asked me if I had herpes (we had been sharing lipstick), and since I didn't want to lie, I told her I have genital hsv2

She looked surprised, so I explained that she didn't need to worry because I don't have oral herpes and genital hsv2 isn't transmitted through sharing lipstick or makeup. Then she started arguing with me and insisted that I could still transmit it by sharing makeup. Her main argument was basically, "I work in healthcare, so I know better".

That honestly annoyed me, and at that point I told her, "That's cool, but I'm the one who actually has the virus." Then explained to her how hsv actually works, and I think I kind of convinced her because she went quiet after that and we just carried on doing our makeup like normal.

Medication

Idk if it's just my country (Spain), but here they won't prescribe daily antivirals no matter how many times you ask, and you can't get them on your own either.

In 4 months I had 3 outbreaks (the last two within 2 weeks). They told me I need to wait until I have frequent recurrent outbreaks (around 6 per year). Even if you want to take daily antivirals to reduce the risk of transmission, they're usually not going to prescribe them.

My doctor also told me to take lysine, but only if it makes me feel better, not because it's medically necessary.

As for treatment, you get prescribed acyclovir for 10 days during your first outbreak, and then for 5 days whenever you have a recurrence.

Daily antiviral

I asked my doctor if they could prescribe me daily antiviral, since I just got my second outbreak but they didn't let me because they told me I should wait to see if I had frequent outbreaks.

I tried to explain them that I wanted it to lower the risk of transmission but still didnt want to prescribe it.

Funny and sad ig

So today is my birthday and hsv2 decided to gift me a second outbreak.

At least is not paintful or anything. Yesterday I had some tingling and today I noticed some small blisters.

I really thought I was gonna be one of those people who never got another outbreak but yeah... and on my birthday lol (it ruined my day tbh). I'm also annoyed because I had plans for tomorrow and ofc I'll have to cancel and make up an excuse.

Ig I'm gonna start taking the medication and maybe I'll ask my doctor for daily antivirals
