Replacing mineral glass with Sapphire or acrylic

I just got a caravelle sea hunter reissue, with plans to brush the lugs, do some other light modifications. Wearing it just two days the mineral glass already has a nic. It most likely got it while I was grinding out some metal for a bezel modification for another watch. But still, can't have this.

Either want to replace with sapphire or acrylic. Acrylic being the more period correct, but sapphire just being more durable to scratches. will either of these drastically alter the water resistance? I don't need 666 feet, would be fine with 333 feet.

Also, having trouble finding it, i could have sworn I had seen at least one other person who attempted or completed this mod on the reissue. Anyone help point me in the right direction?

Raffles 5513 Fair Price?

Have a full raffles 5513, PT5000 movement, just put it together, no case shaping, but my sibling gave me a dive watch for graduation, enjoyed the building phase more than the wearing for this particular one. What's a fair price CONUS?

What else could work in this situation.

Today I met with an engineer, I want to have the deck removed entirely, it’s built poorly and rotting away

I want to have the roof supported permanently by columns, and then have a paver or stamped concrete patio installed at ground level, with a small staircase/porch/deck (but much smaller) to the doors.

The engineer was very much against this idea.

Am I crazy? Am I going to devalue the home by changing this?

I just don’t want to spent $30K on something I don’t want and will never use.

New to all of this, appreciate the help. The blade on this plane has some slop where from left to right before tightening the spin wheel down the blade can move and become angled in the mouth.

To that end, with my ocd, it’s pretty difficult to get the blade nice and centered and straight in the mouth,

1.) did I get a dud

2.) is this expected at this price range

3.)are there any tips on how to make sure it’s always dead nuts?

4.) where did dead nuts come from?
