Why does my chocolate cake always look flat and sad?

Why does my chocolate cake always look flat and sad?

Here is a slice of my chocolate cake I made today. I’ve always used the same recipe from a 90s cookbook my mum had. 100g self raising flour, 100g butter, 100g sugar, 2 eggs, and some cocoa powder. Mix sugar and butter, add eggs along with the flour, voila. Bake for 30 mins. Every time I’ve made it it tastes fine (if a little dry) but always comes out very flat and dreary-looking. I’m not really much of a cook so I’m not sure why. Can anyone help?

My friends and I just spent about three hours after we all (like idiots) fell down to the very bottom of the big cave where you need climbing gear to navigate it. The one that leads into the bottom of the sinkhole. Except none of us had any climbing gear. So we spent three hours trying to get out. When we finally got close to the top I fell and died so had to go back to get all my stuff. Just before I reached my stuff I fell and died again. Finally got my stuff back and left the cave and we went to explore in another cave where we immediately died again because we got stuck underwater and couldn’t see a way out.

Has anyone else had any similarly annoying experiences or are me and my friends just incredibly stupid?
