Questions about AI enemies' detection and general behaviour

I just picked up the game a couple nights back, and have about less than five hours in it. Never left Village yet. I have suspicions on some of the questions I have, but would like to ask them anyway for certainty's sake.

  1. Do bandits have worse eyesight at night and if so, would scavenging runs be safer at night?

  2. I know enemies see very well and far in the day, but how is their hearing at all times of the day? Do they react to player walking noises? Crouched footsteps? Surely they hear sprinting noises. No matter my stance, my footsteps sound quite loud in my headset and logically, it seems like a human would be able to hear me moving in reasonably close proximity.

  3. Upon detecting the player, do they stay on the hunt until the player is killed, or do they sometimes disengage and leave the area too?

Thanks. I'm finding the early game here more tense than early game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. GAMMA, where I come from, though I can't say if it's just a new player's general lack of experience making me feel that way. I've died twice already, once from walking into a room and getting blasted by a strangely silent bandit camping in a room with a shotgun, and the other from getting caught out in the open and having a 32% condition G7 jam on me at the most inconvenient time.
