Suggestions for Anarchist adjacent parenting books, please
My partner and I are really struggling caring for our 7 y.o.
His mother is a narcissist who ignores him when he's required to be in her care, and he's got abandonment issues from her neglect, our divorce, and my months long travel my work requires that his mother wouldn't allow me to bring him on.
My parents were not great parents, with lots of anger, violence, and overall toxic behaviors, and my partner and I want to be better.
We currently have next to no support in child care aside from his 4 days every other week, which is stressful because his last 10 day stay resulted in severe constipation and a severe rectal rash for our child.
I'm looking for resources that will have discussion of strategies for dealing with certain defiance and disrespect and occasionally now violence towards me. We're trying to stay calm, and reason with him, and obviously not direct violence towards him, but when he's not listening and is yelling and I'm already at the end of my rope, it's so hard to stay calm enough, and to even know what to do, because my parents would have hit me long before then.
Anyways, and books/blogs/videos on parenting that utilize anarchist principles? Doesn't have to be explicit about anarchism.
