What’s the worst anime/manga take you’ve ever heard? Like… actually painful 😭

What’s the worst anime/manga take you’ve ever heard? Like… actually painful 😭

I saw this today and I’m still trying to process the absolute lack of critical thinking required to make it.

It got me wondering...

What’s the absolute worst take, terrible power-scaling argument, or awful review you guys have ever seen?

Let's hear them.

Comment a genre and I’ll recommend you an anime 😙

I'm feeling generous today

So I'll play the martyr

Comment a genre or your favourite anime and I'll recommend you anime according to that.

Note:

  • I don't watch yuri or yaoi, so I won't be able to recommend those.

  • I've barely watched mecha, though I do have 2–3 recommendations there.

  • And don't ask for hentai 🫩

Based on my top 10 anime…guess how long I’ve been watching anime

  1. Summer Time Rendering
  2. Parasyte: The Maxim
  3. Hajime no Ippo
  4. Natsume’s Book of Friends
  5. Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
  6. Ergo Proxy
  7. Mushishi
  8. Monster
  9. Fist of the North Star
  10. Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

Now guess:

How many years I’ve been watching anime and Roughly how many anime I’ve completed

Closest answer wins absolutely >!nothing 🤯!<

If you like slice of life, try:

  • Natsume's Book of Friends

  • Tanaka-kun Is Always Listless

  • Hakumei and Mikochi

  • Do It Yourself!!

If you like romance, try:

  • Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence

  • Taisho Otome Fairy Tale

  • Tada Never Falls in Love

  • The World Is Still Beautiful

If you like action, try:

  • Blood Blockade Battlefront

  • Mob Psycho 100

  • Tokyo Majin

  • The Elusive Samurai

If you like comedy, try:

  • Angel Densetsu

  • Cromartie High School

  • And Yet the Town Moves

  • Detroit Metal City

If you want more recommendations or want me to turn this into a recommendation series where every week I give 4 recommendations from each genre, do let me know in the comments. Also tell me which genre you want next.

(I don’t really watch yuri, yaoi, or mecha, so I probably won’t be able to give good recommendations for those 😅)

Not necessarily the 'best' anime, but the one you won’t get tired of no matter how many times you watch it.

For me it’s Natsume's Book of Friends , it’s just comforting in a way most shows aren’t.

What’s your pick?

I’ll start:

  • Spawn

  • Hellboy

  • John Constantine

I even have some dream studio + director combos in mind:

  • Spawn → Madhouse with Naohito Takahashi (Berserk ‘97) as director. I’d want a slow, heavy, tragic tone rather than just flashy action.

  • Hellboy → Directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri with Madhouse. Feels like a perfect match for that gothic, folklore-heavy vibe.

  • John Constantine → Shūkō Murase as director ( Ergo Proxy ), with either Bones or Gonzo handling the animation. Something cerebral, dark, and atmospheric.

Curious to hear yours ,what characters would you pick, and who would you trust to adapt them?
