As a millennial with many Gen Z friends, I adore all of them but sometimes I wish I had more friends my age. Maybe us "olds" (anyone over 30) can have a nightlife meetup sometime? Show people that we still have what it takes to stay out late?

I've joined a number of social Discords and WhatsApp groups over the years in the city and I've noticed a pattern:
Someone announces they want to organize a group of people to be friends and sets up a Discord or WhatsApp for it. Lots of people rush to join it, I go do the activity/meetup and have a good time, but there isn't anything else subsequently planned and when people try to start something, people say they are interested but nothing seems to happen or maybe there's one more event I attend but then there aren't many as many people as the first time around there so I stop checking the group.
I check the group months later and it's completely dead, sometimes with the original organizer still trying to host something but then it seems they just give up.
Have people noticed this?
