Fender flaires, what do you use?
Hey. I just got my first YJ. And my fender flaires are painted in the same color as the body. White.
One of them has a big gash in it, and so needs replacing. The seller actually had the spare fender flaire for the one with the gash, so i won't need to buy a replacement myself. Thats great. But it's black plastic. Which will need to be painted.. and the other ones, also have small chips and cracking in the paint, so should also be repainted or something.
However, i quite like the black contrasting fender flaires on a white Jeep. So I want to make them black. I plan on taking them off, to remove the white paint. Not sure the best method for this...
And then i guess the best way is to paint them all the same shade of matte black? But I thought, maybe just maybe I could paint them with a bedliner spray or something? Will that look ugly? I just thought i stead of the bare black plastic that fades over time, it needs some sort of paint or other coating on it. And would bedliner work? In my mind it would give some level of protection from rock chips and such, compared to regular paint. Maybe...
Any ideas? Also, should the sidestep be the same color as the flaires? Mine is currently white, but with a black step protector installed. But would it maybe look better and more cohesive with the whole sidestep being black too?
