Soap dish to keep the soap in?
What do people use to keep a bar og soap that is in use? I have been using liquid hand and body soap for so many years... But i want to start using the soaps i make at home. I just don't know where to put them ...
On my bathroom counter/sink there is a built in place for the soap next to the tap. But its shaped funny, and i also don't think it would look nice at all...
So please help me with any pictures or suggestions of soap dishes 🥰
Rose Soap Bars
Rose water derived from rose petals was incorporated into the lye solution, and a touch of glitter was applied to the surface.
Does how your skin feels after rinsing matter more than how the soap smells in the shower?
For a long time, scent felt like the biggest factor when choosing soap.
But after trying more handmade bars over time, the difference in how skin feels after rinsing started becoming way more noticeable. Some soaps leave that tight, stripped feeling while others just feel softer and more balanced afterward.
Went down a rabbit hole reading about cold process soap and apparently a lot of handmade bars retain more of the natural glycerin compared to mass-produced soaps.
Kind of changed the way soap gets judged now honestly. The scent still matters, but the after-feel matters more than expected.
Curious if anyone else started paying more attention to how their skin feels after washing instead of just fragrance alone.
How One Bar of Soap Turned Into an Unexpected Hobby
I never expected soap making to become one of those hobbies that completely changes how I look at everyday products.
A year ago I bought a handmade bar from a small local market because the scent reminded me of my grandmother’s house. It had this simple clean smell nothing artificial or overpowering. After using it for a week I realized my skin felt better than it ever did with the store bought body washes I had been using for years.
That one bar somehow sent me down a rabbit hole. Now I catch myself reading ingredient labels on everything and getting weirdly excited about oils butters and different curing methods. I even tried making my own small batch recently and gained a whole new level of respect for people who do this regularly because there is way more science involved than I expected.
What surprised me most is how personal soap can feel. Different scents bring back memories different textures completely change the experience and even the imperfections make handmade bars feel more genuine.
Never thought I would become the kind of person who talks passionately about soap but here we are.
Best soap scents that actually feel calming and not overly harsh
I swear scent changes the whole experience when buying soap now.
Some bars look beautiful but leave skin feeling dry almost immediately.
Meanwhile, simpler soaps somehow feel softer, cleaner, and way more comforting overall.
Maybe I’m getting older, but texture and scent matter way more to me now than packaging.
Is bar soap or body wash more hygienic? Scientists finally settle the debate – so, have you been showering wrong?

What's your view?
Is this the new normal?
My latest batch of ivory soap all looks like this. They also came in boxes which I’ve never seen before. I miss my usual Ivory soap.
I accidentally became one of the biggest Aleppo soap suppliers in the US.
A few years ago I started selling Aleppo soap retail because I genuinely loved the product. Fast forward to today… I’m pretty sure I now have one of the largest inventories of authentic Aleppo soap in the USA.
For anyone unfamiliar: Aleppo soap is one of the oldest soaps in the world, traditionally made in Syria with olive oil + laurel berry oil. Simple ingredients, insanely long history, and people with sensitive skin swear by it.
But life changes fast. I just had a baby, and it’s making me rethink where I spend my time. Instead of focusing on individual retail orders all day, I’m shifting toward wholesale + supplying brands, stores, spas, boutiques, and anyone wanting authentic Aleppo soap at scale.
White label, bulk supply, custom branding, plain wrapped bars whatever you need, I’m probably your guy now.
Honestly wild how a niche product turned into this big of an operation.
Curious if anyone else here pivoted from retail into wholesale after burnout/family/life changes?
1980's Brand New Soap
This is from my childhood bin. Jean Natè cat-shaped soap. The cat on the box and the actual soap, are facing opposite directions.
What company to try next?
I've tried Dr. Squatch, Grizzly Naturals, Sudsy, and Black Stuff.
I don't remember if I even liked Squatch it kinda led me to branching out, but I'm tempted to grab another bar.
Sudsy I only tried one, it was High Seas Drifter, it was ok. They never have any stock though. I check daily and there is only ever one or two bars, and none of the ones I want so I gave up on them.
Grizzly has been amazing and my go to, I've sample about 9 bars and only disliked 2 cuz of weak scent. But them using actual oatmeal and poppy seeds and other stuff is amazing and feels great on the skin.
Black Stuff I tried cuz they had a Guinness themed beer and I like the spicier and woody scents, but it kinda wasn't great. So I didn't try anything else.
I'm just kind of interested in giving other companies a shot out of curiosity so I was looking for more recent recs.
I don't care about all natural either as I actually really enjoy the Dove charcoal bars. It was my go to body wash before I switched to soap and the bars are great.
How do you travel with soap?
Going to switch to bar soap for travel soon and wondering the best way to keep the soap dry and my other toiletries clean.
I have seen the soap bags that supposedly keep it dry, seems awfully expensive for what it is. Anyone made their own versions, I assume it's made of Goretex?
Yall are making ur own soap or buying some fancy soaps?
I just buy SoftSoap brand hand soap. I guess im just simple. Been using it since forever. Love it.
Does anyone else use foam soap?
When I run out of this soap, my mom makes homemade soap. The sent of that homemade soap is sooo good.
Would you say this soap is OK for face?
I was considering trying Dove beauty bar because I heard many good things about it but then I saw this one. The ingredient list is short and I think it should be better?
Yardley Chamomile Flower Soap
I just started using this soap and I’m obsessed with the smell so (if anyone knows what this smells like) I wanted to see if anyone has input on any perfume scents similar to it..
My best (with lack of better ‘fragrance adjectives’) is it’s a very light, clean, but kind of warm smell to it
Bar soap is freaking out my skin??
So, I wanted to simplify my skincare about a month ago and was influenced by an Instagram creator to use the Dove Sensitive Bar Soap since I was still dealing with a lot of breakouts even with my PanOxyl Acne Foaming Face Wash.
Worked great for a few weeks until the skin around my eyes/eyelids started to flake, crack, and went red.
Turns out, it was dermatitis.
Dermatologist gave me a prescription for Tacrolimus Ointment. It helped, but then the dermatitis moved down to my neck!! After some research, I learned that my Dove bar that helped my face actually start to clear up/heal might’ve been to blame.
So, I switched to the Dr.Bronner’s Baby Bar Soap.
Again, worked great for a week, but now my skin feels incredibly dry after I use it AND I’m starting to experience the first signs of a rash or dermatitis on my neck. I’m even experiencing some burning sensation around my mouth and neck.
All this to say: can some people just not use bar soaps?? I don’t know what is causing these reactions, and just want to get to the bottom of what is happening.
What’s a soap scent that instantly makes a place feel cleaner to you
I’ve realized certain soap scents somehow make a room feel cleaner even before anything is fully organized. Some smells just have that fresh, calming effect that changes the whole atmosphere after washing your hands or cleaning up.
It’s interesting how everyone seems to associate “clean” with different scents too some people like citrus, some prefer floral scents, and others like plain classic soap smells.
What soap scent immediately gives you that “everything feels fresh now” feeling?
