[Beta] ValuePair. Friendship/dating matcher where the first conversation is a structured answer-then-reveal game instead of an empty chat

Looking for Beta Testers (founders) - 250 slots available

What it is: a web app that matches you with one compatible person at a time based on a weighted values profile. instead of an empty chat, you start with 14 questions you both answer privately. answers only get revealed once both sides locked in, shown side by side. photos stay blurred the whole conversation and only unlock after the 14 questions if you both say yes. if you both opt in after the deck, a persistent chat opens. if not, automatic rematch.

What I need tested:

  • the onboarding questionnaire. is it too long? which questions made you roll your eyes?
  • the match quality once a few people are in the pool
  • the reveal flow on your actual phone (it's a web app, I want to know where it feels un-native)
  • anything broken, weird wording, dead ends

What you get: it's free, and beta testers are marked as founding members permanently. all premium features (extra question packs, custom question sets, unlimited filters) are unlocked during beta and free for your first year if billing ever ships.

Signup: https://valuepair.app/signup?invite=betausers works best on mobile. I'm the only dev, so bug reports here or in-app both reach the same guy.

One honest caveat: the user pool is tiny right now, so your first match may take a bit. that's exactly the phase I need testers for.

My chats on friend apps kept dying at "hi, how are you" so I built an app where that message can't exist

Solo dev here. this started with me noticing that basically every conversation I ever had on friendship/dating apps died within 5 messages. and it was never anyone's fault really. "hey" and "how's your week" just give the other person nothing to work with, so both of you do polite small talk until one side quietly gives up.

so I built ValuePair around a simple rule: there is no empty chat box at the start.

how it works instead:

you fill out a values questionnaire once, and the app matches you with exactly one person. no swiping, no browsing profiles, you literally can't. the first thing you and your match do together is a deck of 14 questions, stuff like "a free weekend, zero obligations, what actually recharges you?". you both answer privately, and only when both of you have locked in, the answers get revealed side by side. when you picked the same thing there's this little glow moment (second screenshot). that's my favorite part of the whole app.

photos are blurred at the beginning and sharpen as you answer more questions together, so you get to know the person before you see them. if you both want to keep going after the 14 questions, a normal chat opens up. if not, you're both automatically rematched with someone new and nobody has to write an awkward goodbye.

it's a web app, free, currently invite only beta. everyone who joins now is a founding member, all premium stuff is unlocked for you and stays free for the first year if I ever start charging.

would love brutal feedback, especially on the question deck itself. and happy to answer stack questions (next.js 16, postgres, one docker box).
