A young girl who was also seemingly a fan of his told me her dad used to heckle Elliott during his early shows. She thought this was hilarious. I did not.

I was told by someone else that he was just as you’d expect - a shy, quiet, skater kind of kid who was nice to people and humble about his music. I can still see the mental image his description gave me, Elliott sitting on a concrete block at a skate park in a beanie. Aww

My coworker just told me that Heatmiser used to open for his band. He didn’t like them - mostly because he described himself as a useless/belligerent 19 year old, but also because he didn’t really like Elliott’s band members. He felt competitive, like he didn’t want their band to outshine his. He told me he didn’t really ‘get it,’ but that Elliott’s lyrics were deep and morose.
