Our first time heading to Maine. Obviously an abundance of resources to plan things to do in Portland and Acadia, but I could use some insight regarding the drive between the areas. With the only arrival flight being late at night and the only return flight being early in the morning, we're burning two days before any planning and likely need two or three places to stay. Our question: is the drive between Portland and Acadia something to just plan a bite to eat and get from point A to point B asap, or are there towns along the way we should plan to spend extended time, book a hotel for a night, etc.? Thanks in advance to any locals or experienced travelers!
