My first machine knit

Hey folks, thought I'd quickly share my first ever attempt at machine knitting as it turned out way better than I'd hoped 😁

Second picture is my pile of shame, all the times I've messed up and I'm not skilled enough to recover (yet) so had to restart 😭😂

I've been a crocheter for a while now, I'd like to think I've gotten pretty good at it but have never been able to get the hang of hand knitting and I'm currently recovering from an arm injury which means I'm probably not going to be able to pick it up until at least the new year, but I was really missing my crafting so thought I'd give machine knitting a go and I'm glad I did.

If anyone is interested the pattern is based on a YouTuber "KnitFactoryImpl"s video "The Morgan Donner Medieval Hat" and the yarn is Carron Simply Soft color gold.

How to deal with stress waiting for results?

Some background: having recently turned 40 I decided to try and get my health and fitness back on track, in my 20s I was pretty much a full-time gym bro had decent overall fitness, but 10 years of letting myself go it was time for a change. I've lost a decent amount of weight (around 5st since the start of the year) and started going back to the gym and trying to get my steps in every day.

The tests: I originally did a series of general bloods from an online source (medichecks) and these came back with some worryingly high liver markers (ALT, GGT, and ferritin all extremely high), so much so that the doctor who reviewed my results at the lab actually called me as suggested I report to A&E that night. I actually laughed down the phone at this because up until then I had been feeling better than I have in years. Zero symptoms of any kind.

I spoke to my GP about this and he ordered a repeat of the same tests,. The day after this initial draw of 3 different tubes, I get another call to go back in for more the next day. This time they took another 6 different samples.

I already have an appointment to go in and discuss the results but this isn't until next week and I'm kinda freaking out about what might be wrong.

I've never had anything wrong with me until now and I still feel physically fine, but mentally I feel like I'm on the verge of a panic attack almost constantly. I'm just hoping I can get some advice on how to deal with this until I'm back in to see my doctor.

Food tastes different?

Has anyone else noticed that since they started the Mounjaro food tastes different somehow? For me it seems to be nothing savoury tastes salty enough.

I didn't really notice this at first but the other day I was sitting eating with my partner and got a weird side eye for how much salt I was adding to my meal.

He asked me about it and I said "it tastes fine to me" then he took a bite himself and immediately spat it out 😂

Had to say goodbye to this little star last night

This is Enzo, he'd been unwell for the last few weeks and given his health history we were planning on arranging an at-home euthanasia for him.

He'd been resting at home on meds but suddenly last night he took a turn for the worse, he was struggling to breathe so I rushed him to the emergency vets only to be told they could hear fluid in his lungs and it was likely he wouldn't make it through the night.

We we'd been prepared for this at some point in the coming weeks but for it to happen out of the blue like this has been tough.

Everyone give their furbabies a hug for me

NSV Went to the gym for the first time in 8 years

And I wasn't ashamed to look at myself in the mirrors! 😂

Overall my weights are way down and I can tell I've lost a ton of muscle mass, but the fact I was able to just motivate myself enough to get out the door, give it a try, and not feel like everyone was watching/judging me is a big deal.

I know I can probably never get back to where I was size/strength wise now I've hit 40 compared to where I was in my 20s but I'm hoping given enough time and effort I can at least get to somewhere I'm happy with, and this feels like a major step forward.

Thanks Mounjaro!

Loose skin question

So far my journey has been going really well, I really wish I'd started sooner! I seem to respond really well to lower doses and I'm down almost 28kg since mid Jan this year, but still a bit off my goal.

I've had the classic reverse stretch marks around my belly and thighs for a while now and wasn't all that bothered but I'm starting to also notice puckering/sagging around my belly button that I don't like.

So I'm just wondering, is there anything I can start doing now that will improve this as I continue to lose weight or is it really just a matter of letting my body settle down and hope things tighten up on their own?

As a 40yo I'm worried that my skin just naturally isn't as elastic as it used to be so won't really spring back without help.
