After 10+ years Rosacea finally in remission!
I got diagnosed with papular and ocular rosacea 10 years ago. I tried topical antibiotics that temporarily helped a bit, I had 3 months of oral antibiotics, I tried every other prescription topical going including soolantra. Nothing helped. I thought it was food allergies but there was never a consistent trigger. Some days it seemed to be wine, other days eggs. Then chocolate, then pretty much anything and restricting my diet so much made me miserable so I just lived with the terrible skin and wore makeup to camouflage it.
Finally this year I thought I’d give it a real push again. I stripped back my skin routine to a simple wash off cleanser, La Roche Posay moisturiser and used soolantra at night and finacea in the day on top of the moisturiser.. it look about 3 months of consistency but now it’s completely gone and I am thrilled with my skin and no longer need to wear makeup (I’m 49) I still eat foods that can trigger it but now - if and when when I see a tiny spot looking like it will start - I know I need to cut back on whatever trigger food I’m eating, but I haven’t eliminated anything.
I just wanted to share this in case it gives hope to other sufferers - as for me it was the consistency that I was really lacking before. I’d keep trying different products and mixing things up and adding too many variables. I really can’t see myself using more than the cleanser and moisturiser as products again! Less is definitely better for my skin. I imagine I will stop soolantra and finacea at some point - if it starts again I know what to do to get back on the consistency train again.
