PPF
Hi all,
My car insurance is due for renewal, and I’m also planning to have Paint Protection Film (PPF) applied to my car. I had a few questions and was hoping someone with experience could help.
Does PPF need to be declared to my insurer? It doesn’t change the car’s colour or performance, so I’m not sure whether it counts as a modification.
If it does need to be declared, what modification category does it fall under? I’ve been getting quotes through comparison websites, but I can’t find a suitable category for PPF and have placed it as ‘Paintwork - Other’.
When I declare it, the quotes increase by around £90 per month, which seems really high for PPF. I’m happy to pay the correct premium if needed, but I’m wondering whether comparison sites just don’t handle this type of modification very well because there’s no obvious category.
Would it be better to contact insurers directly and explain that it’s just PPF rather than selecting a generic modification category?
Sorry if this is a basic question—it’s my first time dealing with PPF, so any advice would be appreciated!
