I am ending week 5 of 7 for HPV+ tonsil and lymph node cancer. The oncologist is really excited; my tumors have shrank so fast they had to rescan me and design a new plan, which should start next week. He said he doesn’t get to do this often. It’s my understanding this will narrow the beam and hit less healthy tissue.

Does anyone out there have any experience with this? What was the rest of your treatment like, as far as side effects go? How was recovery?

Hi all. Today was treatment 21/35 for HPV+ tonsil and lymph node cancer. I am having trouble with mucous and my nurse recommended over the counter Mucinex. There are a ton of different ones though. Anyone got recommendations for the best one? I am still able to swallow so can do a pill.

Ending radiation week 3 of 7. Got my peg tube 2 days ago, so abs are super sore. Most food tastes like ashes. Next Monday is my second round of Cisplatin so that’s going to suck. This sucks. I spilled my Mocha on my lap this morning and ugly cried.

Upside is no mouth sores yet, I swish twice a day with baking soda and salt. Neck is still good too, I hydrate with lotion twice a day. Throat is a little sore but I can still swallow.

Eggs still taste ok. Starbucks mocha tastes ok. We ordered a bunch of mashed potatoes and noodles and I hope they are ok. I guess if not we start putting shakes through the Peg.

Almost halfway done. Send me strength family. I need it.

Starting week 3 and it is starting to hurt to swallow. I plan to make some homemade magic mouthwash tomorrow. The recipe I got is equal parts Maalox, Benedril, and Chloraseptic throat spray. Gargle and drink a shot. Does that sound right? Any additions to the recipe or advice?

I am 2/7 of the way through my treatment right now, and thinking about what I want to do after. Not immediately after, I mean a couple of months after when (hopefully) things have reached new normal. I was thinking about an all inclusive beach resort somewhere warm, but still looking for ideas.

If you are in treatment now, what are you going to do after? If you have completed it, what was your after celebration?

I am midway through week 2 of 7 and mucous is already starting to bother me. I wake up with it, swish my mouth with salt and baking soda, and then spend the rest of the night trying to sleep in the recliner so I am more upright. Anyone got any tips on preventing it or at least clearing it fast?

I am, like many of you, fighting for my life right now. I have HPV positive throat cancer, which is great right, as far as throat cancers go? Responds super well to treatment.

The problem I have is that my spouse told me earlier they would prefer if I didn’t tell people about the HPV positive part when I explain it to people since I guess technically it is an STI? Like, on top of everything I am supposed to feel embarrassment too? I don’t already have enough shit to worry about? So I guess I explain it as P16+ moving forward. I did not need this added layer

First Chemo and radiation today. First of 35 radiation sessions and 3 Cisplatin. I am a bit nervous. I hate that I am here, and I hate that you are here, but I am glad we are here together.

I sure hope this works

The schedule says 6 hours for this visit, maybe first chemo. What do I do? Should I bring a book or something? Legos? Is that allowed?

Looks like I have joined the club that nobody wanted to join. I start Chemo/Radiation in 2 weeks. I understand that swallowing becomes an issue. Do you have any recommendations for blenders or pre made shakes?

What do you think? 6 with Iron Father Ferros? I liked the models a lot but not sure they fill a role that isn’t already filled
