my gerbil keeps attacking me

got him exactly a month ago. i rescued him from my cousin very bad care even tho i didn't know anything about gerbils. did a lot of research and honestly i think i'm giving him a nice life? anyway. whenever i put my hand in his enclosure (often to change his water because he buries his water bowl all the time so he just doesn't have water – do all gerbils do that?) he runs up to me and tries to bite me.

it doesn't hurt and i understand him id be scared too if some giant put its big hand in my home but how can i make it better? i give him food and treats and he doesn't mind but sometimes he just does that? i don't want him to be scared i want him to be happy :(

work stuff – am i being dramatic?

i was recently asked at work to take more responsibilities. they said i work very well but that i needed to take responsibilities, like giving others directions instead of trying to do things myself and things like that. it went well for like three days until i realized that it just won't work.

honestly at first i was very flattered. i guess it means they trust me to make decisions but now i'm just thinking i can't make lazy people work more. and i also think it's unfair to ask me to do more when i'm already working so much more than everyone else. i do so many extra hours, i never leave on time because i like to finish whatever i started instead of asking others to do it for me, i do what i am asked and more (whatever i think needs to be done, like cleaning, taking out the trash, dishes, stuff like that – i work at burger king btw).

i like my job but this whole thing is starting bothering me because it made me realize how everyone is treated differently. i understand managers need to adapt to everyone's personalities and stuff like that but what do you mean people that have been there for more than like four months have never done any of the basic stuff? why is someone that's been there the same amount of time that i have never cleaned the drains/sewers on the floors and i have MULTIPLE times?

everyone is always busy chatting and the one time i'm not doing anything (mind you i was waiting for someone to finish washing their hands to wash mine) and talking my manager tells me i shouldn't be talking?

i've been told my work is too consistent when i should be even better now. like i've been good from the start and now they're expecting more from me. it makes sense and i get it, but i can't stop thinking how unfair it is expect more from me when i get paid the same amount than the people who are lazy and useless.

i don't want to do less, i just want others to stop doing nothing. i like doing the hours and have more money at the end of the month, but i'm tired.

new gerbil – please some advice?

long story short i got a gerbil yesterday. my cousin got him (?) from a guy that's now in jail and she was very obviously neglecting it. it's cage was very small, like 50x50cm and she had not enough bedding to dig or anything. i tried to help by buying new stuff for it but i couldn't do anything for the cage unless i took it home, so i did.

its new cage is now 110x50, with so much bedding and even a sand bath (which he didn't have before and he's loving it).

i've read gerbils are supposed to be in pairs and/or have friends, but honestly i can't afford it this month and the bonding process scares me a little. and for now the little guy looks fine?

i'm confused about what he's supposed to eat tho. i've seen people say mix is great, but then others say pellets are good? and about this water bottle, i've tried leaving a bowl but he wouldn't use it all and to me he doesn't look uncomfortable using the bottle. his back isn't bent or anything.

also how do i know if it's a girl or a boy?

any advice is welcome really :)
