Brag post

Omg guys when I was trying to combo feed I was getting 1-3 hours of sleep a night. We’ve been exclusively formula feeding for a while now (my milk never came in) and last night I got so much sleep! Dad did 3/4 of the feeds for our 5 week old last night and is now sleeping the day away but holy shit I feel so refreshed! 😭 sometimes I feel guilt over being unable to BF at all but stuff like this (and of course my baby being happy and healthy) affirm me in the path we’re on!

I’m also very lucky baby is a good sleeper 😅

Thoughts on the cradle cross carry?

I had a friend the other day recommend it to me for my 4 week old as she said it would be more comfortable for her while she’s small,
My other friend who is really into the world of baby wearing told me it isn’t a recommended position these days when I asked her about it later

In my research after that I saw that the risks are chin to chest and bad hip position as well as being harder on my back.

We did try it before I knew it wasn’t recommended and I was paying attention to her chin position/breathing the whole time anyways and I had her legs crunched up and not straight. We also only tried it for about 30 mins

I wouldn’t even consider it with it not recommended but it seemed to be a position my baby really liked and helped her fart which has been hard for her.

Thanks to everyone, I’m new to the world of baby wearing (and babies!) so I appreciate the information and grace

A1c pride (brag) and encouragement

My whole pregnancy I felt like I wasn’t doing good enough with my sugars. I saw people in this sub freaking out about spikes to 180 meanwhile I was some days struggling to stay below 300. But I had a great team of doctors behind me and *NEVER* gave up on trying to refine my control. Because for the first time in my life my diabetes and control weren’t just about me and my control and autonomy it was about my baby and their life.

My baby was born 7/12. On 7/16 I had my A1c checked and it was 6.0!! That may not sound like a big deal for everyone but it’s the best my A1c has been in my 20 years of having diabetes!

Im so proud of myself and happy for my healthy baby! (Baby’s sugar was low after birth and they did need glucose gel and donor breastmilk and then stabilized)

I’m writing this so that other pregnant diabetics who feel discouraged might see this and know to not give up and maybe you’re doing better than you think! :)

Measuring 2 weeks ahead wondering about induction timing

I messaged my doctor to ask her if she has any insights given the latest growth ultrasound but I’m curious to hear anecdotal evidence about induction timing with measuring ahead. I’m currently 32 weeks but measuring 34, baby is 86th percentile weighing around 5lbs 2oz, this is up from her last growth ultrasound a few weeks ago where she was measuring 61st percentile. I know my doctors were hoping to induce me around 39 weeks but said it could be earlier with the optimal window being 37-39 weeks. My next and last growth ultrasound scheduled is for 36 weeks. and I’m wondering if I should be looking at 37 or 38 weeks for the induction with this new information. I fear I may not find out until my next growth ultrasound but it would be really nice to know when my dad should be booking his flight out to us! My doctor previously said I won’t know about the induction date until about a week ahead of time but it would be nice to know a little more of what to expect timing wise and I’d love to hear about timing with other diabetics inductions in relation to measuring ahead :)

I just entered my 3rd trimester (today) and my Endos are saying they recommend an induction between 37-39 weeks and NOT going to full term, Ill be talking to my OB later today about when I should be scheduling that… I’m a little bummed as I was really hoping to go into labor naturally and with minimal interventions, but I’ll do whatever is best. I’ll still do what I can to try and jumpstart labor around 38 weeks provided I can get the induction scheduled around 39… I’m wanting some reassurance I guess about the induction process, I’ve heard some scary things,

This is my first baby and I’m not sure how my body will respond

Thank you!

I downloaded the app and I’m excited to start planning my time at LIB now that we’re less than a month away! When was it updated last year? Are we thinking like a week or days ahead of time? Thank you!
