Engine strange behavior
Hi, I bought a new 2026 manual Rebel 1100 a month ago and I noticed a fairly large oscillation in the rpms since the purchase. It happens every time on idle and it doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold started.
The oscillations are about 500/minute 1000/1500 cold after a few seconds on and~ 700/1300 hot in traffic.
Last week I had my engine die in traffic in 2nd gear at 3000 rpm and the acceleration was engaged while I was moving. Another thing I experienced was starting the engine, it would run normally for 5 seconds and then die, and on the second start it wouldn't have the problem anymore.
In all cases the killswitch was not activated by mistake, I was in neutral and the clutch was not pulled or touched.
I went to the Honda dealership for service, they told me it could be a software update but later they told me that the clutch lever needed to be adjusted anyway the the problems still persist even with a small clutch adjustment
I'm curious if this is normal engine behavior and if you've experienced such events with your motorcycles before.
