Experiment!
I feel like there's a lot of pressure to make completed dolls because of potential buyers, but I must say that funnest part about customization is experimentation. Trying new materials to see what works best, using up what you have because why not, re-doing faceups to get it right...because it's fun!
Like today, I was just making a wig with hair that I stopped using for a reroot, as I was waiting for new hair to come. The wig is not for a doll I'm making or anything, just to experiment! I wonder if you guys like to make dolls in this way?
Of course, it is very satisfying to complete a doll, but sometimes I feel stuck because some steps are just meant to get done, not to have fun (sewing tiny clothes in my case.)
I really want another spin-off of the side characters
Devin's story was so well received in Season 8, I feel like they could focus on more characters in a possible future spin-off. Especially fan favorites like Ali and Caleb. Or newer supporting characters like Camden and Nate.
It could be a "one character per episode" kinda thing where we learn about their family, friends, and life in general. Maybe the main characters of Big Mouth would become side characters in this series.
If you have episode or plot ideas I'd love to hear them.
Anyway I know it's not realistic and that another spin-off is unlikely to happen, but I think it would satisfy a lot of fans. Maybe if Mating Season doesn't do as well Netflix would let the creators return to Big Mouth or something.
where do you get rerooting needles?
i've gotten them from doll hair shops before, but they can get quite expensive. i looked on amazon and they seem like a good deal there, but i don't know how to search for the right needles. It doesn't say the size of the eye (#6 is the size I'd need I think?) and the eyes are wider instead of taller. what should i search for?? or do you guys have any links to cheap needles that are hopefully durable as well. I'd cut them myself if I could find the right ones.
help me ID them :)
I collect monster high but don’t really know bratz. I know the third one, since I bought it, yasmin budget 2023 doll. The rest I’m unsure
I love curly reroots!
I’ve never done a curly reroot before, but it’s actually pretty fun. It only took 6 hours, compared to a few days with straight hair. I only lost a little bit of hair unlike a lot (which would probably be on my floor) of straight hair. And I quite like the repetitive process of rerooting, it’s fun to listen to music while I’m in the zone.
It looks so cute at this stage as well! I’m going to be brushing it out later though.
Repositioning the legs
Is there a way to reposition legs farther apart on a monster high g3 doll?
My plan was to cut a “T” shape at the waist and crotch to move the torso down and legs farther apart.
I’m unsure if the hip joints need that middle part together
Can someone help with the hair?
I wanna do a custom of this character. But I don't know how I'd do the hair since its very cartoony. I want to keep it accurate, but since it will be a doll some things are more realistic than the drawing (like the proportions and sculpted details.)
Maybe a nylon reroot and then I curl it? Or some glued on acrylic yarn, and a cut / glued piece for that curly part at the temples? I prefer nylon reroots in general but I don't know if I could style it how I want. If you know other possible hair methods (that I can't remember from the top of my head) let me know.
The base will be EAH if that helps.
(for the image, ignore the back and side view, idc how it looks from that angle)
