I just got my delivery from dolly hair and it feels really gross? Like grainy or smth. Its only my second time ordering from the site, but I ordered the same thing as last time and the last order was soft. I placed the orders a few months apart so maybe thats the difference? Ima wash it and hope that helps but I was really confused
Made myself paint all of them over the course of five days (with an unexpected signature Ashlynn repaint sprinkled in). Not sure I’m happy with Apple. She was first, and unfortunately the wonkiest. Looks alright from some angles 😅 I think Briar and Raven are my favorites of the bunch. I’ll update when they’ve all got hair!

MSC doesn't ship to the location I usually stay at, so I had to go on a trip to be able to get it. Unfortunately I cannot bring it back with me, but at least I did get to use it.
I did also sculpt the face. Eye chips were designed by inkbynori on tiktok used with permission.

I have cobbled together a couple of "sets" of mermaid dolls, using Disney Store Princess dolls and the Live Action Little Mermaid Sisters doll set. I love the tails on the 2023 Live Action Sisters doll set, but I don't like the lack of articulation in the arms, or their face sculpts. So I swapped the arms and heads for Disney Store Princess dolls. Ariel, Rapunzel, and Jasmine. The last photo is another set I put together. Ariel is a Mattel Sparkling Princess doll with a Disney Store Ariel head. The Esmeralda doll is wearing a Mermaid High tail. And the Rapunzel doll is a Disney Store LE Spring Rapunzel doll head on a Barbie Dream Besties body wearing a live action Ariel doll tail.
I rescued this poor doll from a box on the side of the road. It's probably a doll from the late 80's, a cheap vinyl imitation of a porcelain doll. I figured it would be nice to give her a makeover so I started training on a photo of her. Next step, I'll proceed with the actual painting on the doll itself. As I'm very new to this, I'd love to get your opinion. Should I do it with acrylics? or would pastels, or watercolour pencils be better? I'll be giving her face some colour, redo her lips, eyes and eyebrows. If it goes well, I might color her body as well. The photos are just showing her current state.
I am a very VERY amateur doll maker and want to make clay dolls of my little guys. Problem is, I lack a lot of the material probably needed. No armature wire and whatnot.
If any of you other doll makers have advice on what kind of material I should use to finish these clay goobers
I'd asked @joshybearhuggies to paint open eyes on my Vision smart doll and make the lips fuller, more like a dream bestie doll. Her original closed eyes were beautiful but I knew they would look amazing open. She's still stunning.
I posted in r/crafts but was told this sub might have more info for me? I am painting a Beasts of the Mesozoic articulated figurine and sealed it with Mod Podge spray. The second I put it into hot water to soften it for reassembly (the plastic can be tight and difficult to attatch when cold) the varnish totally melted and the paint is now ruined :CCCC
Any ideas for spray or even liquid varnishes I could use? The plastic is not solid and is meant to flex and bend for greater articulation!

Decided to repaint my Ashlynn Ella again while I’m going through each of their Legacy Day versions as well! The face seen in the last two images is from May 2025 - what a difference!

My third attempt at rerooting. I thinned out the plug size. Might have wasted more hair than I meant to but the pink side is all done. I wonder if it's possible to untangle the mass of hair and reuse it?
Has anyone here ever made a custom doll with wings for arms? I was thinking clay would be the best bet to go, but I wanted to ask here if anyone may have better ideas on how to make something like this into a reality ;u; obviously way more simplified because I went nanners with her designs detail as a harpy.

In the beginning of this year I started reading the Manga ~ Witch Hat Atelier and fell in love with the story and characters, it has such beautiful artwork and gorgeous story beats, as well as character growth, (highly recommend if you havent read it) - it also just recently got an anime adaptation, which is phenomenal so far, excited to see how they adapt the rest of it!
Anyway I'm Beetle, I have been doing art all my life, but my newest art endeavour has been doll customs and art doll making, so I wanted to translate my newest hyperfixation into a doll and wanted to make my favourite character Qifrey!
