brother made it sound like this is gonna make me have 50 mental breakdowns this semester.. i’m a freshman and didn’t think this was that bad - i don’t have class fridays

i’ve had my cockatiel arlo for about a year now, and recently i’m living full time with 3 friends for work. one friend he’s taken a very strong liking too, and i believe it started because she didn’t attempt to interact at all due to her fear of birds. he started going to her more and more over the course of about 2 weeks, and has stopped interacting with me pretty much at all when she’s in the room. if we’re alone, he’ll sit on me and won’t scream or anything, but if she’s here he only wants to be near her. he used to only ask me for kisses (he bows his head like some do for head scratches, he isn’t very fond of people touching his head or neck tho), now he bites at me when i try to give them and only offers them to her. if i pick him up, he flies straight back to her. if she leaves the room, he screams. if i leave the room, he doesn’t mind very much anymore. i feel really rejected and i know i cant “force him to love me”, im just really sad :( i miss my pretty bird
