PlopKit: Open source comment system, alternative to Disqus.

I've been building PlopKit, an open source comment system that can be embedded into any website. It's made for people who want comments on their website without visitors having to sign up to leave a comment.

It has moderation tools such as:

  • Accepting or rejecting incoming comments
  • Automatically accept comments
  • Banning certain words
  • And many more in the future

I've been building this in private for around two months now, and I figured I might as well share what I have so far and get some feedback.

All source code is fully open source and the app has been dockerized so it's easier to deploy and self host.

Anonymous Comment Section Widget

I've been building plopkit.com . It's a comment section widget that is an alternative to disqus. What sets plopkit apart is that each commenter has a unique display ID so every comment does not feel like it's coming from the same commenter. There is no need for commenters to signup which makes discourse more accessible. The site owner also has moderation tools to moderate their comment section.

Before I create more features and go all in, I might as well test the waters and see if there's an audience for this.

It is currently in beta so don't be too surprised if you see bugs.

Anonymous Comment Section Widget

plopkit.com It's a disqus alternative with no signup for commenters. I've been building in private for a while now and I don't even know if there is an audience for this. So before I go all in and create features no one has been asking for I might as well make things public.

Any feedback would be great!

I built a website for visualizing and filtering through courses. If you're curious which courses are the hardest or easiest based on reviews from rate my professor, or just want to see cool visuals visit my website.

Completely free, no login required.

Would love feedback from fellow USask students especially if you spot anything off or want to see new features added!
