Eric, 12.5 years, didn’t make it through the night

Yesterday morning at around 03.45, our budgie, Eric, of 12.5 years, passed away quietly. Sadly we weren’t there to see him off.

For those of you who have perhaps seen the post I made two days ago already know that my mother had to bring him to the emergency vet (we are on holiday). Backed up feces and probably pneumonia were the diagnoses.

They relieved him of the feces and gave him antibiotics (and some kind of nsaid, perhaps for the pain, perhaps for the inflammation) and he was taken home again.

He wasn’t really able to get back to his favourite spots in his cage, and reportedly he crawled back into his cage, went to rest on the floor, and shortly before passing gave to tiny squeaks perhaps as if to say goodbye.

I find solace in that the vet was able to relieve him and hopefully that gave him a somewhat painless passing.

I am sad though that we, and the children as well who are heart-broken, weren’t able to be there for him. Although I know that birds tend not to want to die with their flock, and that sort of makes me feel better, for perhaps he truly saw us as his flock.

Going back home is going to be painful, but we’ll get through it.

12,5 years old at the vet

Our poor Eric had to go to the vet today. Even worse, we are on holiday 1000km away. My mother took him to the vet. Lungs didn’t sound great and backed up feces being an issue.
We don’t know yet if he’s going to make it..
My daughter is very sad as well, she calls him her baby..
Just wanted to post here, because who else would understand..

Advice: will this hold?

Hiya everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster/asker :)

I am thinking of buying/keeping these, but I am a bit worried about the pattern especially on the nose.
It seems to me this might easily deteriorate.

Is there anyone who has experience with either these shoes, or a similar pattern/material on the nose and how has it kept up over the years?

Rode my first pump track today!

And it was awesome!
It was a goal for me this year to actually ride a track (I have wanted to do so for some time) and I am proud to have finally done it.
I couldn’t take any of the turns yet, but I was able to keep it going by going over the top of the turns. It was really cool to be able to keep it going and end up where I left off without pushing at all.
I’m going again soon!
