Advice on replacing front and back brake pads and rotors

This is the first time ive done anything like this myself, and i just bought this 4runner recently. Anyways, how can i best be prepared for this to go smoothly?

A little side note, im not sure if its just the fact thats the brake pads are worn down, but testing my brake booster by pressing the brake down several times without the car running, around the 10th time the pedal still hasnt gone stiff like its supposed to, and the car starts beeping repeatedly along with the brake light coming on the dash.

Would this impact the process of me changing my brakes if it is something to do with my booster?

Hard to brake

Just bought a v8 with 186k on it, and noticed that braking was harder than my older car, there is no squeal when you have the key in the on position. Any ideas what it could be?

Advice for buying a 3rd gen off marketplace

My ford has more than twice its value in repairs required, and i dont have a whole lot of money. Which it may sound stupid that i want to buy a 24+ year old rig, instead of repairing my 2011. However i know that 3rd gens are notoriously easy to work on, toyotas run forever, and i would like to expand my abilities as far as working on my own vehicle goes.

Anyways, i am aware of the rust, and “pink milkshake” problems they can have, though id like some personal experience ideas from you guys on what to inspect. But what else should i be looking into or asking about? How many miles is too many? Whats a good price range? Etc.

Thank you in advance
