Sensitivity to clobetasol?

Hi everyone! I was just diagnosed a month ago (23F) and am just starting week 4 of clobetasol. I was doing 2x a day for the first 2 weeks, then twice a day for 5 days and tacrolimus on the weekends.

My white patches have completely cleared and my vulva looks normal again, but I still have some residual itching. That being said, my skin feels dry and irritated after I apply the clobetasol? I’ve tried adding in some jojoba oil and Vaseline at night but it’s not helping all that much. I might try dropping down to once a day and maybe add another day of tacrolimus instead of clobetasol. The tacrolimus doesn’t make me feel dry, but it burned BADLY for the first few applications 😭 putting it in the fridge first only kind of helped

Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?

So I was just diagnosed and am using clobetasol cream twice a day. My skin isn’t super dry down there, but I’ve heard adding an emollient could help with symptoms. How do you guys use emollients while actively using clobetasol? I assume using the steroid on top of an emollient like aquaphor would be basically useless. Do you guys just do a quick wash off in the shower first? Or apply the emollient after clobetasol? Thanks in advance!

▲ 10 r/lichensclerosus+1 crossposts

Hi ladies and all others who have a vagina! This is mostly a vent post bc I feel so frustrated/relieved at the same time. Long story short I had a 3-year intermittent battle with what doctors thought was “chronic yeast” despite testing negative for all strains of candida, negative for STIs, negative for micoplasma/ureaplasma, etc. I went to a dermatologist and the dermatology NP diagnosed me in 10 minutes (!!!!). I never even thought to go to a dermatology provider. I feel SO relieved that I finally know what’s wrong with me but also frustrated that it took this long. It’s unfortunately a chronic condition so I have to deal with this for life, but I feel relieved to FINALLY have a definitive answer and treatment plan after 3 years.

So moving onto my next question, does anyone here have lichen sclerosus? How do you manage it? My provider gave me the steroid cream to use to treat this flare, but do you guys do anything specific to manage it in the long-term (sex habits, diet, cotton underwear, etc)? Thanks in advance!
