Polestar 2 delivered through Octopus EV with only 1 key – now unable to set up the car/charging. What are my options?

Hi everyone,
I took delivery of my 2023 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor today through Octopus EV leasing, and what should have been a really exciting day has honestly turned into a massive headache.

The car was delivered with only one of the main keys, and the activity key is missing.

The problem is that I’m now unable to properly set myself up as the administrator of the car in the Polestar app because the car appears to require the other key/activity key as part of the setup process.

This has created a pretty frustrating knock-on effect:

● I can’t complete the Polestar app setup properly.
● I can’t become the administrator of the car.
● I can’t properly add/connect the car to my Polestar account.
● I can’t set up Polestar Energy.
● I can’t connect Polestar Energy to my Octopus Intelligent Go tariff.
● Therefore, I can’t take advantage of the cheap overnight Intelligent Go charging at home.
● I’m currently having to use public chargers, which could cost me £30+ every time I need to charge, despite having home charging available.

I’ve contacted Octopus EV leasing about the missing key and getting this resolved, but I’m trying to understand what my options are in the meantime.

I’ve read a few things online suggesting that there are potentially two ways around the issue:

  1. Get a replacement/additional key programmed for the car, which would hopefully allow me to complete the setup.
  2. Have the missing activity key wiped/removed from the car’s system, after which the car may apparently allow the setup to be completed using the one key I do have.
I’m not sure how accurate the second option is though.

Has anyone else had their Polestar delivered through Octopus EV leasing with only one key/activity key missing?
If so:
● How did you get the issue resolved?
● Did Octopus arrange/provide a replacement key?
● Did Polestar provide/program a replacement key?
● Were you able to get the missing activity key removed from the car’s system?
● Did removing the activity key allow you to become the administrator and complete the Polestar app setup?
● How long did it take to get sorted?
● And were you able to get Polestar Energy + Octopus Intelligent Go working afterwards?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through this, particularly if there’s a way of getting the car fully set up without having to wait weeks for another physical key.

It’s just frustrating because I specifically arranged my Octopus Intelligent Go tariff and home charging setup ready for the car, and because of an issue that wasn’t caused by me, I’m now potentially having to pay a lot more to charge it publicly.
Any advice or experiences would be massively appreciated!
