Rangi's character arc

Am i the only one who feels sad about how Rangi was sidelined as kyoshi's gf Instead of being a deutaragonisy like Yun despite having many interesting qualities? I love rangshi as a ship, they're so far the best written romance in the whole avatar franchise but she deserved so much more as a character independently.💔

Her childhood at the fire academy while being bullied, if she ever partook in agni kais for her mother's honour, how she grew to be secure abt her own honour to the point where she easily embraced daofei & outlaw philosophy despite her higher class upbringing, her dysfunctional relationship her mother (i expected their argument during the journey to North chung ling in SOK would shed some light on that), even her invention of jet stepping & white fire !!

There's much more to her (and other characters too) that could've been expanded on, if the book didn't follow the "only the protagonist matters" framework. 😭 A major reason ATLA is so revered is because of its individually well developed main cast & complex dynamics between them. i loved the book but ughh they missed out on so many things
