I bought a 27" 8 string the other day and like it a lot but I'm having some issues with the strings. The guy I bought it off of put new strings on and they are a set of standard 74-10 I think. I have it in E-A-E-A-D-G-B-e right now and the low E is kinda floppy. I tried tuning it up to F-A#-F-A#-... (since I like my 6 string in C), but there was more tension on the high string than I liked.

Anyone dealt with this? I was thinking of getting a 80-9 set for the F-A# tuning to accomodate the floppy low and tight high strings.
