I am a sucker for tele styles, and was casually browsing for anything in the realm of 7 strings, and came across this, they haven't made these for some time it seems but I lucked out on reverb that was near mint (I included the sellers pictures later as I only took one.)

It for sure fits what I wanted aesthetically so was a no brainer pickup at less than 300$ especially a multiscale.

It for sure needs a pickup swap but for now it's just a ton of fun.

30” baritone 7 string on the way - string recommendations?

I’ve got a Cerberus XRC7 on the way - is coming without strings. This is my first foray into such a long scale length (current longest is LTD H-1008B with Evertune at 27”) and wondering what gauge set I should look for.

Planning on keeping it around drop F-G standard, but miiiight venture down toward E1. Off the shelf options are the Ernie Ball Baritone 13-72, Stringjoy 11-70 and 13-74. Since is 30” scale length, I’m thinking the 11-70 would be most suitable, but would love your input.

NGD

I've been eyeing this guitar for a while and finally got it. I was torn between this one and the LTD Buzz 7( huge unearth fan) but ultimately this one won on specs. Stainless steel frets, Floyd rose 1500 and 26.5" scale in case I want to tune down... Plus I have a thing for T style guitars. I've had it for a couple weeks now and my love for it has only grown. Super Slim neck that's fast and comfortable for me, the sustainiac is cool as hell although I'm not a good enough player to take full advantage of it.. yet . Love the Fishman pickup. People hate on it but it produces such a huge variety of tones, I'm not sure if any other pickup can do it like a Fishman. Plus it looks awesome. I think my GAS is fulfilled for a while.

Downsides- it is a heavy guitar. I mostly play sitting down and had to adjust my seating position to feel comfortable. Not a huge deal but I was not expecting this.

It did not come with a case or even a gig bag. It's a shame that for this price it does not include any protection.

Matte black finish- gets smudges on it very easily and a bit of a pain to clean but totally with it for me. I change my strings often and clean my guitar with every string change.

Despite all of that, the fit and finish and feel of this guitar is excellent, the action and setup was fantastic from the box and I didn't change the strings for 2-3 weeks after getting it. Best quality guitar I've owned so far.

Bonus pic of my small collection included.

NGD! Ibanez Alpha Series A527 in Nebula Shift 💙💚

NGD! Ibanez Alpha Series A527 in Nebula Shift 💙💚

After almost two years, my 7-string journey is finally over… and I couldn’t be happier.

*Fair warning: the lighting doesn’t do the Nebula Shift finish justice. It shifts between blue, teal, and green depending on the angle, and my room lighting flattened a lot of it. I’ll try to grab some outdoor shots when the weather cooperates.*

This wasn’t the guitar I originally planned to buy.

About 2 years ago I started putting money aside for my first 7-string. I researched for months and eventually ordered a Schecter C-7 SLS Elite in Blood Burst back in December 2025 (even managed to snag a $350 price adjustment).

Unfortunately… that turned into quite the saga.
The first guitar arrived after roughly three months with a significant section of missing paint between the fretboard and neck pickup, along with a few dents and a cracked grain on the side of the top horn.

We tried again.

Four months later, the replacement showed up with nasty scuff marks on the fretboard and wood splinters trapped under the clear coat on the back of the neck. It would’ve driven me bonkers.

At that point I just couldn’t convince myself to accept a brand-new guitar in that condition. It was disappointing because I really wanted that Schecter, but after two failed attempts it was time to move on.

That led me here.

The Ibanez Alpha Series A527 wasn’t originally on my radar. When I first saw the Iron Pewter version in the store earlier this year, I was in awe, but my budget (and my heart) were still set on the Schecter.

One of the staff put it back in the spotlight and mentioned they had a Nebula Shift at another Long & McQuade location, which was extremely gorgeous. Once I finally got it in my hands, the purchase decision became surprisingly easy. The craftsmanship was exactly what I’d been hoping for, the multiscale parallel wizard neck felt immediately comfortable, and the Fishman Fluence Moderns sounded fantastic for the kind of music I love to play.

And yes… it ended up costing about $1,000 CAD more than I’d originally planned to spend. But the feel, the tone, and the craftsmanship tipped the scales in its favour.
Thankfully, the amazing folks at Long & McQuade Richmond Hill (Ontario) worked with me to make it happen, and I’m incredibly grateful for their patience throughout this whole adventure.

This is also my first venture into both the extended-range and multiscale worlds. The multiscale neck felt surprisingly natural within minutes, and after a short session I was already wondering why I’d waited so long to try one.

Naturally, the first riffs played were…
🤘 Some classic Korn
🤘 Ice Nine Kills

It felt like the proper way to inaugurate it.

Now I need some advice from fellow A527 owners (or multiscale 7-string players):

❓ **If you play Drop A, what strings are you using?** The guitar came with 9-59s. Would you stick with those or move to something like a .062 for the low string?

❓ **Which Gator hardshell case fits this guitar properly?** I’d love to get it protected as soon as possible. The gig bag is nice, but I don’t trust it. 😆

Really excited to see where this guitar takes me. I have a feeling it’s going to inspire a lot of riffs over the coming years.

Strings for a 30” baritone

So I just picked up a 30” baritone from Firefly and want to know where I’d have the best luck with strings for it. I wanna put it into: Bb Bb Eb Ab C F.

I’m definitely gonna need at least an .80 for the low A# but I don’t know where to start with the rest.

Side note: it has a reverse headstock so I’ll need enough string length for it to reach the tuning peg.

To those who own multi-scale guitars (and basses if you have them), what do you do if you want to replace the pickups?

Because as far as I know, the pickup slant varies a lot from brand to brand. And as far as ive checked, only a handful of pickup brands mass-produce pickups meant for extended range guitars. And they're not always cheap compared to perfectly straight pickups.

I am selling my 7 string Ghost

Unfortunately I have to downsize and am selling some of my higher end guitars. One of my Legators unfortunately have to go. I am curious what everyone’s thoughts are on these guitars. I personally love them. Legator and Ormsby are my two top brands. I only have one Ormsby so I’m not coming off of that one. So what are everyone’s thoughts on these guitars? I am pricing it around 900$

What pickup is this?

Just recently bought an early run Ormsby Hype GTR 7 string used from GC. Been watching the brand for years, really loving the guitar and it sounds fantastic. On paper this should be an Ormsby Nunchucker bridge pup, but in looking at other models and their pickups online, the look of this pup doesn't line up with their output (interesting combo of screws, slugs, and raised pointed polepieces). Does anyone have any input on what this pickup is? Thanks!

String advice for 27" 8 string

I bought a 27" 8 string the other day and like it a lot but I'm having some issues with the strings. The guy I bought it off of put new strings on and they are a set of standard 74-10 I think. I have it in E-A-E-A-D-G-B-e right now and the low E is kinda floppy. I tried tuning it up to F-A#-F-A#-... (since I like my 6 string in C), but there was more tension on the high string than I liked.

Anyone dealt with this? I was thinking of getting a 80-9 set for the F-A# tuning to accomodate the floppy low and tight high strings.

Opinions on the Legator Ghost G7FSS BK (and affordable EU alternatives)

Hi everyone!

I'm seriously considering buying a Legator Ghost G7FSS BK, or more generally a Legator headless 7-string, but I'm still on the fence.

From what I've read, it seems like Legator has improved a lot over the last few years, but opinions are still pretty mixed. Some people say the newer models are fantastic, while others still mention QC issues or think they're overpriced.

Here in Italy, the Ghost G7FSS BK costs around €1,100 (approximately 1260$) which feels like a lot for a Legator.

So I have a few questions:

  • If you own (or have owned) a recent Legator headless 7-string, how has it been?
  • How is the overall build quality, fretwork, hardware and electronics?
  • Would you buy one again at today's prices?
  • Do you think it's worth around €1,100 (approximately 1260$) or is that simply too expensive?

I'm also looking for alternative headless 7-strings available in Europe, preferably:

  • under €700–900
  • multiscale (preferred, but not mandatory)
  • modern specs
  • and, I'll admit it... I really like the look of the Legator Ghost 😅. So if there's something with a similar modern aesthetic, that's definitely a bonus (although not a requirement).

I'm already aware of guitars like the Ibanez Q series, Strandberg, Cort KX507MS, etc., but I'd love to hear if there are other brands or hidden gems available in Europe that I might have missed.

Thanks!

NGD Kraken 8 string

Randomly checked FB marketplace and saw this posted for $200 45min previous. I picked it up today and I'm quite happy. The pickups are kinda quacky/squeaky but overall completely worth it. Still getting used to it but it plays and sounds better than most of my other guitars.

Help on EMG/Fishman Fluence wires

Hello lads, I know some of you are freaks and may have done this or at least know someone or something.

I'm from Argentina and I'm seeing a very good offer for a set of Fishman Fluence, Modern 7 but the guy have it without any wires, potentiometers, etc. and as I saw, active cables are different between EMG and FF, EMG are solderless but FF are solder, so my question is:

Is it possible to cut the cables so then I can solder them to the pots? Would you do it or know some website so l can check it?

(Just so you see prices, this used set is 300$, new is 650$ and the EMG are ~500$, and shipping is not an option cos we have 55% extra on taxes here in Argentina + no return). Cheers guys hope you can help me!
