Looking for 8 string recs $1000 or less ideally

Hey all,

I haven’t had an 8 string in about 12 years since my LTD H-208, and I’ve got the itch to get one again. The only problem is there are waaay more options to choose from these days and I’m stuck with a bit of decision paralysis.

Ive never owned a multiscale, but I’m not opposed to it. I would ideally like 27” or longer since I plan to stay in drop E. The main thing is I would prefer it to be $1000 or less, and that can be something that’s easily found on Reverb as well, since I’m not opposed to used/B-stock. The couple that have caught my eye are:

Legator N8

Cort KX508MS

LTD JR-208 (not as many nice features, but I own an LTD baritone 6 right now and enjoy the neck of it)

Thanks for any input!

Tech Death newbie looking for recs

Hey all,

As the title says, I’m pretty new to getting into tech death. The bands I’ve gravitated towards so far are Archspire, Fallujah, and Alterbeast. I really like the melodic aspect of their sound, and would be happy to get some recommendations of bands I should check out with my limited exposure so far. I’m not super keen on clean vocals typically, but I feel like Fallujah’s Xenotaph does them exceptionally well.

Thank you for any input!

What drum plugins are you all using?

As the title implies, I’m looking for a solid drum plugin for my own music I’m making. Right now I’m rocking the Alex Bent kit from Bogren Digital, and it’s been nice as an entry into midi drums and programming. Lately I’ve been wanting to get something with a little more ping in the snare, and clickier kick like the good ol Deathcore sounds. Let me know what’s worked out for you guys, as I know there’s a lot of musicians in here!

Input on a first MS 8 string

Hello!

I’m sure this question has been beat to death before since these are the budget multi-scale 8 strings on Sweet Water. I haven’t have an 8 string in a decade now, and only had straight scale guitar my whole life. I’ve got the itch to get back into an 8, but want to know if anyone has real world experience with both of these, and if there are better options to look at (in the US) from smaller companies.

Thank you for any input!

Input on a 2017 Fusion Sport closing in on 100k miles?

Hello!

I’m looking at getting a new to me daily, and I’ve always liked the idea of the 2.7 power plant, but truthfully know nothing about them. A dealer local to me just got a 2017 Sport with 99.5k miles for $15k. Wondering what input this group might be able to give to a newbie to this platform, and ecoboost engines in general (have always lived in the LS world for the last decade+). Mainly curious what kind of things are typical to go out/be replaced around this mileage and things to check out before potentially taking it home.

Thank you!

Tight modern tech death tone help

Hello,

Im looking for input on how to go about getting a modern tech death tone (The Zenith Passage, Fallujah, and other similar bands). This genre and style is pretty new to me yet, and I’ve tried just what I know about tone settings to try and get close, but it’s not quite right.

The two plugins I have access to are the Fortin Nameless X and the Gojira X, so any input is very much appreciated!

Hey all,

I’m in the market to replace my old and worn out 2000 Silverado, and came across a Magma Red (favorite color) 2018 F150 5.0 super cab with 93k miles for $23k. Miles are a little higher than I was trying to get, but to me the price seems pretty good for that? I’m not super familiar with the coyote world, as the fords I’ve owned in the past were all 2v or 3v engines. Any input on things I should really look over when going to the dealership at that mileage?

Thanks for the help!

I am looking to finally get into a decent daily driver after many years of driving beaters. I’m not too particular about anything, but my main requirements are:

$25,000 budget. I have a small amount of wiggle room, but would really like to keep it closer to $20-25k

AWD. Yes I know snow tires on RWD/FWD can be great, I’ve lived most my life that way in northern Wisconsin, but want to finally have AWD as well.

Sporty. I like having some power when needed. I’d like something around the 300+ hp range if possible

I’m not looking for the fanciest and nicest interior, I’ve lived my life with 90’s-00’s GM and Ford vehicle my whole life, so anything modern is an upgrade lol.

Reliability is also obviously something we all want. I’m tired of constantly wrenching on my vehicles to keep them on the road, so that’s why I’m ready to spend the money for something hopefully a little better.

The options I’ve come across that I’m considering so far, and any input/other options are greatly appreciated!:

Cadillac ATS coupe/sedan with the 3.6 V6

Audi S4/5

Ford Taurus SHO

Acura TLX

Edit for more context: it’s just me and my wife with our dog. No kids to worry about, so a coupe is an option, but would prefer sedan

Hey all! I recently got my guitar set up for F# standard after living life in A# standard for most of its life. I’m hoping someone can help me with some tips on dialing in heavy tones with the low tuning now. I feel like I’ve gotten a decent start, but I just cannot get clarity out of chords on the F#. I’ve been using the Gojira X plugin for Neural DSP if that helps.

I love bands like The Acacia Strain, and find their tone incredible with a lot of low end clarity while being down to F. Thanks for any input, it’s very much appreciated
