Brand new 12k unit - what can I do proactively and preventatively to avoid mold?

I had the 10k unit for a few years and it was amazing! Until the mold came…I’m sure the mold was there much longer than I realized but when the recall was announced mine looked like a science project. It was unnerving but I got my money back relatively hassle free.

After a ton of research I came to the conclusion that pretty much all inverter window units will develop mold and require some level of maintenance. Midea U being the quietest of them all, I decided to buy another one. Hopefully this wasn’t a foolish mistake but it’s so damn quiet and works so well.

Looking to poll the hivemind for tips and tricks to prevent mold from growing in the first place.

Should I remove the black drain plug to begin with? What about the blue plug on the outside in the middle closest to the house?? What’s this one about?

Put in one of those dense black air filters on the inside to help reduce dust from entering the unit?

What else?!?!?
