Cellar cleaning service??

Maybe not the right sub but wasn’t sure where to post!

I have a smallish cellar in my house accessible only from a door in my kitchen. It is not a liveable space at all but I do store things down there and it’s where my washing machine is hooked up.

The cellar itself is quite dirty, I started washing down the walls when I moved in but it was a horrific job to do in the middle of August and I didn’t get very far at all. Definitely looks like a bit of mould and mushrooms and stuff is growing down there, and I had to have it treated for woodworm when I moved in as the previous owners had been running a tumble dryer down there with no proper ventilation and they’d blocked up all the air bricks (all sorted now).

It’s basically concrete floor, painted brick walls, and wooden beams. All I’d want doing is a good clean down, some mould treatment on any bad spots and maybe a new lick of paint although I might be able to do that myself. I don’t think I need it full tanking as I am just storing boxes and camping equipment down there basically, and I wouldn’t have that kind of money anyway.

What type of service would I even contact to do something like this? I did have a Google but it looked like everything that came up was industrial grade cleaning, or tanking services.

UPDATE (with cat tax) - Harness for fluffy cat

Update to this: https://www.reddit.com/r/adventurecats/s/9tBG67XvIf

Thank you for all your recommendations, we went with Rabbitgoo and I am so happy with it!! The only thing that is a teeny bit annoying is that when the head part is tightened it’s then hard to get back over her head to take it off 😅 but just means it’s secure and it’s relatively easy to untighten so it’s all good. Maybe wouldn’t be great for a cat that’s not used to any harness training at all.

I love the purple colour on her!! 💜

Gym recommendations - switching from Gym Group Sherwood

Since moving to Nottingham I’ve been to:
Gym Group City Centre
Formula One
Gym Group Sherwood

Have done strength training in the past and may do more again in the future but currently working on my treadmill running.

I don’t mind Gym Group Sherwood but I am struggling with the lack of air con (not sure if they have it?? But doesn’t feel like it) - I’m trying to get more into long runs and find it so difficult to run for longer as I get so hot. Literally feel unable to go at all this week during the heatwave, it’s like a greenhouse in there. Formula One also had no air con, but GG city centre used to and it was lovely. Unable to get to that one easily anymore though so not an option.

Puregym says it has aircon, but from reviews the Colwick Loop one isn’t working great, and apparently everyone hates Castle Marina Pure Gym 😅 also looked at JD Gym but again reviews are saying it’s just very overcrowded.

Ideally would like:
24/7
Air con
Free parking
Not mentally busy around 7pm-9pm when I usually go

If anyone has any genuine recommendations that would be great! Thank you :)

Harness for fluffy cat??

Hello! My little fluffy cat Maple (3.5kg, mostly fluff) went on her first sniff around my new garden earlier - I’ve done a couple bits of harness training with her inside but she’s been a bit spooked by the weather if it’s windy so as it’s quite nice in the UK right now I thought I’d give it a go! Her previous owner also said she had sometimes used a harness with her.

I just have one of the these H harnesses at the moment from the pet shop which is fine (see last pic), but I would rather one that is maybe a teeny bit more secure. I got one that she has to step into but she won’t do that. I think I could get one over her head if needed but would prefer one that just clips on like her current one.

I came across this one on Amazon that clips in and everything but all the pictures are on shorthair cats and I worry that it’s almost too much fabric for a fluffy cat? I’m not sure if actually the thinner harness she has now is easier for me to adjust and make sure it’s actually snug to her body.

If anyone has a fluffy adventure cat I’d love to know what type of harness you find best ❤️

Cat sitter staying overnight - what does this entail?

I’ve never had a cat sitter stay overnight, just do visits. I’m going away in July and messaged my cat sitter (found on Cat in a Flat app and used her over Christmas, she was lovely!).

She has offered to throw in a couple overnight stays for the same price as a standard visit if I would like, which I’m not against but I’ve never had this so I’m not sure what is expected on my end!

I would obviously leave the house tidy and such, but I don’t think I’ll have time to sort out my own bed with new sheets etc before I need to leave after work, so it would be a sofa bed that I could make up for her in my spare room. Would that be okay? I slept on it for a whilst when my bedroom was being decorated and it was okay but obviously not as nice as a proper bed!

And then am I meant to leave any food or anything? I can buy milk and some biscuits or something but if I just leave a few shelves I assume she’ll sort herself out?

I think I just feel a bit apprehensive as I haven’t had anyone ever stay in my house without me there - I’m a single female with my four cats, so I’m used to just doing my own thing! I think they’d be absolutely fine without her being there overnight (they’re quite used to me being out at work all day), but obviously it would be nice for them to have someone.

Any advice about what is expected (either from a cat sitter or from someone who’s hired an overnight cat sitter) would be appreciated 💖
