Preordered Gen 3 - Colour Question (Rose Gold)

Hi all! I preordered my Gen 3, and having been between the gold and brushed rose gold I went with the rose gold. This is my first ringconn (coming from UH) and I’m wondering if I can get past experiences on the brushed finishes or if anyone has seen early reviews showing the rose gold in person? I am trying to tell what tone of rose gold it is but struggling!

Other than that, I believe I have 14 days from ding arrival to change if the colour isn’t what I want, right?

Starting Over In The Ring Search

I posted in here a few weeks back about my battle with UltraHuman and getting replacements that simply didn't work for one reason or another. Well, after 3 infuriating replacements, I've finally been given a refund for my entire UltraHuman investment. Phew, thank goodness. I will say, it is a shame, because for about a year, I had really enjoyed my ring experience. It gave me what I needed and was pretty reliable, a contrast to the reviews I had seen when I was initially making my ring purchase. Now I can see why there is so much frustration. Unless you get a nearly perfect device, you are going to run into issues.

ANYWAY, the reason for this post is...I am overwhelmed of where to go next with what ring I try. Back when I got my UH Air (Jan 2025), I was comparing it with the Oura Gen 3 (the 4 had released, but I was more keen on the 3 given the price difference etc) and the RingConn Gen 2/Gen 2 Air. My reasons for going with UH were specifically focused on the app. I liked that it was free without a subscription (still prefer this as it feels odd having my health data behind a paywall) and was constantly evolving with the power plugs being pushed out.

As of today, I am realising I am basically back where I was - considering Oura Gen 4 and the brand new Ring Conn Gen 3. I have also seen the newer Luna ring and would love any insight into that ring if anyone has had it for a significant period of time. I am an apple user, so the Samsung ring is ruled out.

What I am ideally looking for in a ring:

  1. (The Obvious) Intensive Health Tracking. Namely the specific areas:
  • Women's Health Tracking - I have PCOS and really appreciate having my cycle tracked via my ring, seeing the insights my other health data helps produce. I am a fan of the integration of Oura's Natural Cycles but is it really worth an additional subscription fee on top of the already forced app fee?
  • I have Crohn's and need a ring that can properly monitor my data 24/7 and provide me with detailed insights that I can later mark as important or relevant to my flare ups. I don't necessarily need an app to include information on Crohn's etc not tag it automatically after a while, but I guess I am more looking to make sure I can provide my own unique tags on things like temperature spiking etc. UH did well with their tagging feature, but I did find it frustrating at times that some of the tags couldn't be changed, suggested ones were inconsistent and the overall action of tagging was tedious.
  • I have to monitor my HR and Blood Pressure for some medications I am on, I would like a ring that gives pretty accurate readings on the daily that I can use at a glance beyond my weekly proper readings I do with my GP.
  • Highly Accurate and CONSISTENT Sleep Tracking - UH's sleep tracking was often incorrect and I could not edit it without a fight. I enjoyed the sleep cycles aspect and seeing the breakdowns, but it was incredibly annoying that I had to struggle against the app to properly track my sleep. From January up until my refund I was seeing myself as only getting 2 hours of sleep when I wasn't doing anything different regarding how I wore my ring while I slept etc compared to the year before. UH, of course, said this was something they were going to update eventually rather than provide me with actual troubleshooting unique to my issue.
  1. Workout Registration - I am happy to tag my workouts after the fact or change their 'automatic' registration, but I want to ensure I have a ring that properly recognises when I am working out and assesses my stats through that lens rather than alerting me about a higher HR (as I wrote about my HR needing to be tracked anyways). I'm not necessarily sure if that makes sense, but I want to be able to go into my app and tag a specific spike in heart rate being due to a workout etc and have that be reflected in my analytics going forward versus a spike being due my medications and needing to be addressed/then causing issue for how else my data is presented throughout the day.

  2. A long term, low maintenance device. At the end of the day, I don't want to run into constant issues with my ring that require a stupid about of troubleshooting/attempting to reach customer service, or dealing with replacements. Like everyone else, I am looking for my smart ring to assist with my busy life and work as a tool. I don't want to have to babysit it to make sure it is working properly 24/7. This also includes battery life staying consistent and not dissolving/lessening as my ring ages. I also want to ensure there is a good warranty (either included or at an additional fee) to cover any potential issues that crop up.

  3. A nice app interference, less clinical looking. I want to want to look at my data versus check it because I have to if that makes sense. I also appreciate when the app details the reasons associated with a score given. I want to learn what things mean so I can make changes if needed.

With regard to the rings I have been stuck between, a few other things I am back and forth on:

  1. Vibration Alerts - I really like that the RingConn 3 has vibration alerts. My question is - do people really find this to be useful and minimal for the bare minimum notifications etc? Or, does it become excessive? I have an apple watch, but have become really annoyed with the constant notification push I can't seem to sort out. I will have it on every possible silencing option and still get random notification about an ASOS sale. I am hoping to eventually get away from wearing my apple watch for most of the day in favour of returning to a regular watch beyond workouts etc. Obviously, this is a new feature and the ring hasn't even been released, so I guess I am more curious of what people who have used ring conn think about the feature regarding their predictions for the short and long term. I know there are also some in here who have tested the ring in anticipation for the release alongside the current ring conn models, so would love your thoughts! Do we think it worth the risk of potentially getting upon release and potentially finding issues in 6 months or so with the haptics versus getting something with more established consumer feedback?
  2. The elephant in the room - Subscription Paywalls. Looking back, I think the main reason I ultimately ruled out Oura was because of the subscription fee to access the app. It does come across like my raw health data is thus behind a paywall. This aside, now after my issues with ultrahuman, I am not entirely against the fee if it can be argued the app is worthwhile because of it. I am happy to pay for something if it will provide me with what I am looking for and the best experience, but I don't want to feel locked into paying for something if it is mediocre at best simply because I purchased the product and need the app to use said product.
  3. I find the fact that Oura's prices differ based on the metal finish picked to be really...crappy. I only wear Gold, so I would essentially be spending approx £150 more just because I prefer gold jewellery and gold looks better with my skin tone? I know I am not the only one who feels this way, so for those who have gone with Oura and picked the gold or rose gold etc - is the finish actually nice? Or does it look like an ugly fake gold? For those who went with silver because of this fact but are like me and only wear gold regarding other jewellery, how much does the silver stand out if it is mixed with gold with the size and finish of silver used?

I know this sub has a varying degree of loyalty or distain to specific rings (as I have now become anti ultrahuman for example), specifically the two that I have been stuck between. It is kind of similar to how it is hard to decipher between proper reviews of a device and ones that are paid for by the companies (disclosed or not). It seems with every review I see or article I read, exact same categories are awarded to different rings without explaining the reason as to why. I am just finding myself confused is all. I am hoping that with posting here I might get some clarity on the best path forward and get a (hopefully) objective look into what works best with what I am looking for. If you have been a customer of both Oura and RingConn long term, not just the testing period, I would love to hear the pros and cons. If you are hardcore in one camp and have only had that one, please please tell me why that is and how it has been as a long term tool for you.

Of course would also love insight into the Luna ring (currently in 3rd place for me) or any others that could be a good fit for me.

Thank you all so much! 😄

Here is a screenshot of my post deleted multiple times. They archived their mega thread so I can’t comment there. I’m so done with this. Still haven’t gotten an answer from CS.
