Beach Etiquette At Night?

I was recently at Kalaloch and we went to see the bioluminescent waves at night. They were incredible and it was very peaceful until a group decided to come down and flood the beach with their flashlights - they kept shining them directly at us (blinding us) and even left an extremely bright lantern on the beach ruining the view for everyone in the vicinity.

I know it’s a public beach, but is blinding people with your flashlights/headlights/lanterns acceptable?

I’m not talking about a quick on/off to check bearings or using a red headlamp that doesn’t destroy everyone’s night vision, that’s totally reasonable.

In-laws think a “cabin” with 1.25 baths and advertised occupancy of 8 is acceptable for 12 people 4 families) for 7 days and think I’m being unreasonable for not wanting to stay. Have they lost their minds?

I’m genuinely wondering if they have lost their minds because nothing about this feels “normal” - even for them.

This is supposed to be a “vacation” but it seems more like going to an inter-generational prison: ages 2-71.

Half of the beds are in a loft area with no door, the 3 bedrooms that do have doors are tiny: only have double beds in them.

I looked at it online and said heck no, and booked a hotel room nearby but my partner said her parents are DEEPLY insulted that we won’t stay in the cabin they paid for with everybody else.

They ARE NOT poor btw - they go on multiple vacations/ European tours etc. a year and are solid upper middle class east coasters. They also put their nose up with staying with us in our home because we only have one bathroom, so they booked a hotel!

Have they lost their marbles? Are they just being assholes?

Beware?

I was looking for a 48oz Nalgene and my phone made it seem like Nalgene had them on sale.

On closer inspection, it appears to be a scam site that looks A LOT like Nalgene’s site.
